If you are trying to get someone to see things your way being honest and kind to them is a good thing. If you are trying to change someones belief system, then let the truth speak for itself.

That's a tactic that many religions/cults do. It's called "love bombing". The idea is to really envelop the person with praise. That will soften the person up, who might not get a lot of praise otherwise, so you can indoctrinate them easier.

It's not giving praise, it's showing love. And nobody comes to know Jesus through people who instill fear of Hell, people come to know Jesus through love.
