According to historians, the origin of Hinduism dates back to 5000 or more years. The word "Hindu" is derived from the name of River Indus, which flows through northern India. In ancient times the river was called the 'Sindhu', but the Persians who migrated to India called the river 'Hindu', the land 'Hindustan' and its inhabitants 'Hindus'. Thus the religion followed by the Hindus came to be known as 'Hinduism'.
According to scholars, the evolution of Hinduism may be divided into three periods: the ancient (6500 BCE-1000 AD), the medieval (1000-1800 AD), and the modern (1800 AD to present). Hinduism is commonly thought to be the oldest religion in the history of human civilization.
It was earlier believed that the basic tenets of Hinduism were brought to India by the Aryans who invaded the Indus Valley Civilzation and settled along the banks of the Indus river about 2000 BC. However, the supposed invasion of the Indian subcontinent by the Aryans has now been proved to be a flawed one and is considered nothing more than a myth.

"Hindu" is a coined word which the afghans used to call the people who lived on the east of the river Indus (Then called the Sindhu improperly pronounced as Hindu by the afghans). But, this relegion is actually the "Sanatana Dharma" or the "Eternal Relegion". Eternal religion is not bound by time. Its origin cannot be pin pointed to an era in the history. We have limited capacity that we cannot think beyond time. That which is out of the grasp of time is Eternal. To conceive of some tangible idea, you can think of a cricle. A Circle has neither a beginning nor an end. This circle of eternal religion can be divided into 4 Yugas according to the vedas.
Before Kali Yuga, the whole world was under the "Sanatana Dharma" and there were no other religions. But due to the degrading nature of the Kali Yuga, the conclusions of the "sanatana dharma" as propounded through the Vedas, Upanishads, Puranas etc were lost and is now known only by a few handful of people. But, as a river on its path, becomes a small stream, only to regain its vastness ahead, the Sanatana Dharma will surely come to its full glory again.

Hinduism cannot be described as an organized religion. It is not founded by any individual. Hinduism is God centred and therefore one can call Hinduism as founded by God, because the answer to the question ‘Who is behind the eternal principles and who makes them work?’ will have to be ‘Cosmic power, Divine power, God’
Swami Vivekananda wrote:
There are these eternal principles, which stand upon their own foundations without depending on any reasoning, even much less on the authority of sages however great, of Incarnations however brilliant they may have been. We may remark that as this is the unique position in India, our claim is that the Vedanta only can be the universal religion, that it is already the existing universal religion in the world, because it teaches principles and not persons.

What today is called Hinduism is the result of centuries of evolution by numerous divergent spiritual movements within India. So varied and different are the various expressions of Hinduism that virtually the only factor they have in common is that they all originated in India, hence the name Hinduism which means 'the belief of Indians'. Being so dynamic and fluid it is true to say that what today is called Hinduism simply did not exist at the time of the Buddha. The main religion at that time was Brahmanism, the worship of the gods mentioned in the Vedas through sacrifices and rituals.

some is a results of Buddhism entering right into a area and blending with the beliefs favourite contained in the realm rather of adjusting them. Strictly speaking Buddhism has no Gods except those an adherent would settle for as a actuality in his/her existence. Buddhism had a unprecedented era the position it develop into better or a lot less spread through a form of Evangelism, with each and every of the nasty stuff that is going with it. possibly the people who include those Gods and are Buddhists benefit this because that's the actuality of their awareness.

Its orginate is not tracable as it was orginated on the date when the earth orginated as per the Hindu Mythology. It seems to be alive there that the Hinduism was born well before the earth born and the living things in the earth was born as per the Hindu mytholgy the God Brahama was the person who gives life to the living things in the earth was there only before the earth was created or the universe was created. If U want to know the life of the Hindu Religion it should be traced back to the birth of the universe

It is not a prophet taught religion. It is believed to be one of the faiths in the world. Hence there is no founder. it evolved into a set of beliefs, based on the truth experienced by the rishis from time to time. The Vedas the basis of this religion, The Vedas are stated to have occurred in the minds of the rishis of yore. They were handed down to generations down below by word of mouth. It was Ved Vyas who compiled the Vedas, the utterances of the mantras of the rishis.
Hence, the answer to your question is that Hindu religion is a sanathana dharma. It is the mother of all faiths. Like a mighty river, its origin are difficult to be traced. it took origin from the collective wisdom and visions of many a rishi. It is still growing.

A central theme of Hinduism is Trinity. It predates the same theme in Christianity by almost 3000 years.
Do you get my meaning?
