[62] Those who believe (in the Qur-an), and those who follow the Jewish (scriptures), and the Christians and the Sabians, any who believe in Allah and the Last Day, and work righteousness, shall have their reward with their Lord; on them shall be no fear, nor shall they grieve.

he was believing in one God. while most of the Arabia are pagans and idol worshipers.

and Muhammad did not come up with the Quran, but God revelead it to him. Muhamamd can't writie neither read and no way he could read the Torah or the Bible. and if you compare the Quran with Hadith (Muhammad words), you will see alot of differences. it's not the same person.

he didn't "come up" with Islam. that's first of all.

he had no religion, he didn't follow the religion of his tribe. he used to mediate in a cave and worshiped God the Creator. he was a monotheist.

he was always a monotheist unlike his contemporaries who worshipped idols

EDIT: ok, guys, who gave me a thumb down and why?

and i am right when i say he was a monotheist, he couldn't read or write, therefore wasn't familiar with previously revealed books ........... but his blessed heart was always pure and he knew it in his heart that there is only one God
