i have heard this noise you speak of before. the best thing to do is keep going in periodically and telling them the noise is still there. make sure they write a repair order and you ask for a copy of it when you pick it up. sometimes service dept's get lazy and void the "no problem found" ro's.
and this looks like there was never any history of the problem if something should eventually arise
just outside the warranty period.
as far as them blowing it off so they don't have to do a warranty repair.....i know of no dealer who will
refuse to do a legitimate warranty repair. the
manufacturer pays their bills, so collection for a big ticket repair isn't an issue. good luck.
also, as moose said, this noise is common. although it is still good to have your concerns documented.

we own a 1999 jeep grand cherokee laredo.
there is no bigger lemon on the market than this vehicle.
we had the same problems as you, and it was under warranty. the service department said it was nothing to worry about. about six months after the warranty expired, it became something to worry about. i brought it to a reputable transmission repair guy, and he said "of course it was something to worry about, if they sounded like that when they were new, they would never sell one. when something mechanical like this makes an abnormal noise, there is something wrong!" anyhow, it cost me $1500 to have the trans rebuilt. another fact you may be interested in is that when i brought my jeep in for recalls, they never actually performed them, but said they did untill i pointed out that carfacts.com lists these details. he replied he did not know this, and to bring the vehicle back in. (we threatened legal action) he also promised to fix the other problems at the same time. they fixed the recall problems an told us "good luck" on the rest. lesson learned: do not give them the benifit of the doubt, when you hold the upper hand, keep it untill all issues are resolved to your satisfaction. another tip. 'DO NOT BUY A VEHICLE AT A DEALERSHIP IN BRATTLEBORO VERMONT WITH THE INITIALS A.M.! (p.s., i was not yelling here, just making a statement.) :) i hope this helps, and beware of chrysler service departments. they are rude and disrespectfull fibbers.

I have two Jeep TJs (Wranglers), an 04 and an 05, both automatic. They both have a momentary hum when shifting from park to reverse. Don't worry about this, it's not an issue.
Something to keep in mind about warranty repairs, the dealership gets paid to make those repairs.

i own a repair shop, and i have heard the noise your talking about,i heard in in a few of them, its not anything to worry about ,i have never found it yet it does sound like it might be coming from the transmission ,but i don't think it is,any way it hasn't effected any of the ones that i know of,but i would take it back to them if it gets louder, and the warranty will cover it,always use all of the warranty you can before it runs out because once its gone it comes out of your wallet,,good luck i hope this help,s.

Just keep your garage work invoice to validate your claim if it fails. Go to another chrysler/jeep garage.

UMMMM is it a standard or automatic? If its automatic no it's not normal. If it's a stick it could be normal, because reverse is geared so low it tends to make a whining,or humming.
