Where are you flying from? And where in Canada would you fly to? That will determine your time of flight. There are lots to do in Canada (it's a big place - bigger than Disney). In cities (depending where you go) you can find theme parks, museums, children attractions, swimming facilities, water parks, malls, theatres, etc.
In rural areas there are camping, festivals, fishing, canoing, white water rafting, water skiing, bungee jumping, etc.
I would reconmend it over Disney.

The flight from London to Toronto is about 7 hours, and the way back is slightly shorter (something about wind coming back across the Atlantic). Flying to Calgary and Vancouver will take a couple of hours extra. And Montreal about an hour less. Canada's lovely - I'm from Toronto and have lived in the UK for the past 7 years.
Toronto - great for shopping, culture, shows, eating and nightlife. Sights include - the CN tower, Niagara Falls, Centre Island and lots of others.
Calgary - during stampede season is quite fun, like a rodeo. Lots of great walks and outdoorsy stuff.
Vancouver - prettiest city in the country if you ask me, lots to do, and friendly people.
Montreal - very european, but friendlier :-) French speaking, great night life and culture.
Disney Florida is great fun, but Canada is really different.

i went to Toronto last summer, and loved every minute of it! the flight over for us was about 8 hours, and on the way back it was about 6hours (because of the wind) - we went for a month in total, but by the 4th week i was ready to leave! we stayed with family there, and visited loads of places in the toronto area! including niagra falls, cn tower, a thousand islands ( further away, but beautiful, you cross over into america, if you go on a boat trip), Alconquin National Park (where we spent 4 days canoeing in the wilderness, with nothing but a guide and a tent - it was wicked and i would totally recommend it!). we also did loads more but cant remember what we did exactly. if you want really cheap return flights to Canada - go to www.globespan.com - you can get a return flight for less than £300 to Toronto, flying from loads of airports - we used it when we went and it worked out great!
i would also go to Florida for 3 weeks, and then to Canada for 3 weeks - i think 6 weeks would be too much time there, unless you plan to travel around abit to get the whole experience!
hope you have fun anyway, n hope this helps!

You should do both as Disney is only a 3 hour flight from Toronto.
Flight to Toronto from UK is around 7 hours.
I live in Ottawa (originally from UK) and have only really seen bits of the east coast. I suggest you spend some time on the both coasts.
Try flying to Vancouver from the UK (9 - 10 hrs) and do all the rockies and lakes stuff. Make your way to east coast and spend time in Toronto and Ottawa as well as Montreal and Quebec City. Good sense of history to these places and all are beautiful in their own way. Plenty to do if you like the out door life, camping, canoeing, boating, etc etc.
Cost of living is slightly lower than in the UK so you should not have any financial worries.
Enjoy the trip.

There is a theme park close to Toronto called Canada´s Wonderland. IT isn´t quite disney world but it still is fun for kids.
I would definitely go north to the lake district in ontario, rent a cabin or cottage, swim in the lake, take out a canoe, read and relax and enjoy the great outdoors.
