I am a Christian but I have a REALLY rough life and comtemplate suicide sometimes. The only reason why I haven't done it yet, is because I was taught that I would go to hell if I murdered myself. But I haven't found any scriptiual evidence to support that, since sins are forgivable (except blasphemy). I've looked on numerous sites to find the anwsers but I've found nothing solid. Anyone have any INFORMATION for me? (I don't need any opinions, I need scriptual evidence.)

If you are truly born again, you will go to heaven. But if you are truly born again, why do you contemplate suicide?

OK, I went through some of those moments. The suicide thoughts are from the devil. When I did have them (yrs ago now) it was because my husband verbally talked me down. So to retaliate, I would yell at him. Then he comes against my faith in God. Then, I doubt God. Then I feel miserable and can even vision cutting my wrists. Yet the Holy Spirit grieves. Then I feel more miserable. So I repent to God for doubting God. And pray, "It doesn't matter what my husband thinks, God. You have promised to never leave me or forsake me. You are who you say you are.".

There is the verse that writes, "He that destroys the temple of God, God destroys." Don't you know that you are the temple of God? Suicide is disrespecting who you are in Christ & God's Holy spirit.

Because of that verse, I thought also a born again Christian would go to hell.

My cousin killed himself in 2005. I prayed to the Lord about it. The Lord assured me he was in heaven with the Lord, bringing to my mind when he attended church camp. Only because he had been born of God then. A born again Christian cannot abide in sin (make it a comfortable habit) because of the Holy seed within. So believing lies from the devil is a sin and can make a person feel miserable. So is unforgivness. A Christian cannot abide in it. My cousin was in spiritual pain and killed himself. But since salvation is by grace (Jesus Christ redeeming blood) he went to heaven.

When he went to heaven Jesus couldn't give him the rewards because of his actions, but he got to go to heaven because he was a child of God. Of course sin doesn't go to heaven, so the lies, unforgivness got fried.

I think you need to realize who you are in christ. You are an overcomer over the lies of the devil. Please get the book "Your Best Life Now" by Joel Osteen at www.joelosteen.com

Also, get some books on who you are in christ. There are also many good bible promise books out there. Renew your mind with God's Truth. Speak a positive truth with a negative lie. Remember, once we are born of God, we are made the righteousness of Christ, and nothings we do or don't do will change that.

Here is a verse for you to meditate on. For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life. It is God's will for none to perish.

Who is he that overcomes? He that is born of god. And what is our victory? Our faith.

Jesus already won the victory for you. He rose from the dead.

Please write me. I can send more victory messages if you like. Just have faith in God. I predict a major blessing just before you. That is why the devil wants to do you in. God has a plan & purpose for you & satan wants to destroy it.

I'm sorry that I can't provide you any scripture (I'm not a Christian), but I would like to provide you medical advice. If you are having suicidal thoughts you are probably depressed. Depression is an illness where chemicals in the brain are out of balance and you aren't getting enough "happy chemicals". This illness can be treated and cured and you can become happy and live a good life. You should try seeing a doctor for your problem and give medical treatment a try. You have nothing to lose and everything to win.

I used to be depressed myself and had suicidal thoughts. Today I'm glad I never acted on them, because I'm cured now and happy and living a good life. The same can happen to you, you can be cured, you can become happy and you can get out of this pain in a positive way and live a good life. Just give it a try.

All the best.

A preacher once told my mom that the answer is no. He didnt give any scriptual evidence to prove it and I have none at the moment. He said they shy away from spreading the truth of this b/c then people, such as yourself, would have nothing else to hang on to.. and honestly, we would probably all be gone.

We all have hard times from time to time. You said your life is REALLY rough... well, let me tell you that my life is NOT a piece of cake. There is nothing that can't be fixed.

And as a Christian, I would hope that you were taught He never gives us more than we can handle.

My advice is that you seek outside help. You can email me if you want. Your life cannot be more terrible than mine!

Stay safe hun

Your salvation is based upon what Christ did on the cross and His resurrection. It has nothing to do with what you do or don't do except you must accept His sacrifice for you.

So the answer to your question is that commiting suicide will not prevent you from going to heaven. However, you are caught in a strange delema.

If you believe that God loves you so much that He gave His only begotten Son to die for your sins how can you, at the same time, believe that He doesn't care for you now in your "really rough life" and has a design for your life. John 10:10 says "I have come that they might have life and have it abundantly." That is what God's plan is for you.

Commiting suicide denies the power of God to deliver you from whatever your circumstances are while robbing you of the joy of seeing God perform miracles in your life.

You can't do GOD's work and taking your own life is a sin and the punishment is eternity in hell. Life is a precious gift from GOD. Everyone has problems from time to time but they are learning experiences. I couldn't even imagine killing myself and i suffer from serious depression. Even at my darkest moment i never considered it. There is alot i don't understand about life and why some people suffer but it's not mean't for us to know. I suggest you get some help right away. Just talking about takes away some of it's power. One day you will look back and think to yourself how coud you ever have even thought about taking your own life. Things will get better. Be strong and fight whatever your going through.

There is no hell--only oblivion after death. But please don't commit suicide--no matter how rough life can get, it is preferable to nothingness. And the great thing about life is--it takes unexpected twists and turns at odd moments. Some of those changes can be quite interesting. May I suggest that you read "The Odyssey?" Odysseus was a man who persevered in the face of adversity, and eventually prevailed, with the help of his wits and unforeseen occurrences. You can too. Please don't give up. You can endure. If events overcome you, then you will have gone down fighting.

Well I don't know where the Bible says that but don't end your life. Find someone to talk to even if it's a cop or minister. Then the person could help you find the help u need to stay alive.
I know u don't want opions but this isn't one this is advice. I'm concerned about u b/c u mentioned wanting to commit suscide. Which I must admit is a selfish act. I mean don't u have any friends or family? If u do then just think how sad they'd be if u did that. I mean please don't kill yourself without getting some help. Please.

You know I was closing my account yesterday but I went on here and saw your message and I have to post...You say you are a Christian but suffer with depression,,how has your walk being with Jesus,,Have you been seeking Him or have you been praying..Reading the word..?? Have you been walking in your flesh more than usual?? All these things will stop your flow,it will cause you to start to look at the world more..We are to live in this world but not be of this world..this world carries the depression..Understand what I am saying..Most of the time when we start to feel sorry for ourselves or depressed it is because we have stopped doing the things that Jesus has asked us to do..He can take you out of all of that but you have to step up and do your part also..I don't sugar coat anything so if it sounds mean,,it is because your flesh does not want you to hear it,,start praying again..You know the answer,,you just don't want to walk in it right now..You are blessed,,you are an overcomer in Jesus!! He has made you a conquer..You have all the tools,,use them..

you've put a ton of people in a really bad place.

Simple answer: you will not go to hell. Once you are in the hand of Christ, you can never fall out. Thank God that our salvation is completely dependent on the God that is perfect and not the people who aren't.

more complicated answer: don't kill yourself. Life is hard, but there is a loving God who cares about you. It's so cliche to hear, and i know that and am sorry. Lonliness, doubt, fear, sorrow, dispair - these are all side effects of the life that we live and the sin that has corrupted it.

I'm SO sorry for the things that have gone wrong in your life, but ending this physical life is a sin and is disobedient to God. If you end your life, how can you fulfill His commission of bringing the Gospel to the world (including people you love)?

I hope things will get better. I'm sorry life is hard.

Why don't you use the Bible to finds ways to make your life better not "escape"? Suicide is wrong and the most selfish thing you can ever do. Your loved ones are the ones who suffer while you may very well too. Who really knows? Please seek help from a clergyman or the person that helped to "save" you. You need to look for different answers, Sweetie. Good luck and I will pray for you!
