Is it normal for a cat to look you in the eyes? I heard somewhere that animals don't. My cat always does! Is this what all cats do, is is my cat strange?

Cats will make direct eye contact in 2 situations: a fight, where they are trying to stare each other down; or what I've heard referred to as the "mother's stare." Moms and kittens will give each other direct eye contact. It is a sign of trust, as is the feline stare in which they briefly close their eyes: they are saying I trust you so much, I can sleep safely in the same room as you."

If your cat looks you in the eyes, then she trusts you - especially if she looks at you with her eyes half closed and blinks a lot! Be aware, however, that looking a cat in the eyes can be perceived as a threat - so do not do this to cats that do not know you well!

My cat looks me in the eyes all the time. Sometimes she does it when she's playing as using me as "prey" lol and sometimes she'll just stare into mine just to be staring and I'll stare back until she gets tired of it.

my cat always looks me in the eyes unless he is angry with something i think the look in the eyes thing is when your are holding them on their back and i also think it is only with dogs hope this helps

when I had my cat, he always looked into my eyes (he wanted attention). then he will try to get me to scratch behind his ears and under his neck. After all that scratching he will curl up by my leg and fall asleep
