I don't know where you can go, but I have a suggestion. Take the pedals off the bike and practice scooting around on it. You'll eventually be able to coast farther and farther. When you get comfortable balancing for longer periods, put the pedals back on.

I learned when I was 12, which was pretty old. I had a bike with no chain, and I would start at the top of a gentle hill and roll down, with my feet on the ground, and gradually keeping my feet up longer and longer. If you can find a private place to do this, I recommend it.

You failed to mention WHERE in Georgia you reside. If it's Atlanta, you might try Stone Mountain Park. It has miles of safe roads to bike on!

You can try these links and they can in-turn give you a few more ideas. I would stay with the trail system if possible and away from the roads, to many crazys out there that think they know how to drive.

You're not really thinking about taking lessons are you?!
Just keep trying like a child would... trial and error... it'll come eventually. You can't teach balance.
