yes, it can help keep weight down, but there are much healthier ways to control weight. Tobacco use will either kill you or make you feel like crap.

I quit on 3/20/2006 gained 35 lbs so I would say yes. I never ever weighed this much in my life, even when 9 months pregnant. Never dieted or had weight issues when I smoked. But it's not worth going back to smoking :) Good luck!

It is not the smoking that keeps your weight down but the fact that when you do smoke food doesn't taste as good and you lose appetite. That is why when some people give up smoking they get their taste back and eat more because the oral gratification is greater.

No, although it was touted as a diet aid in the 1920's. Some people who stop smoking will replace the physical sensations in the mouth with food of some sort which leads to weight gain. However, smoking in and of itself does not keep your weight down.

Actually, it does the reverse. It narrows arteries, blood runs faster, craving more nurishment . Then you substitute another cigareete for food until your hooked on the tobacco. Heart size increases to pump blood faster through the narrow arteries. Vicious cycle.
One which I'm caught up in. But now I have the weight and the habit.

i would say no. It's mind over matter. If your going to smoke instead of eating, then yes you will loose wait. If it really does help keeping your weight down then why are there so many fat people smoking?

Nicotine acts as an appetite suppressant and also changes the way your body metabolises fat. So yes, technically it does act as a weight loss solution, but factor in the various cancers you could suffer and the fact that you stink.

yes, because instead of reaching for a bag of chips when you are bored, smokers reach for a cigarette. its not the chemicals in cigs that keep weight down, its more the habit part of it. most of us need something to "do" when we are bored or nervous, and nonsmokers tend to eat or drink to calm this need, and smokers just smoke. so nonsmokers gain weight and smokers dont.
