and you figured this out....so you keep saying..."you know, I'd rather not go into that"...or "I do not want to talk about that anymore"...or "you know, i'd rather move on"...BUT for some reason THAT PERSON is not getting the hint...WHEN SHOULD YOU JUST WALK AWAY???IT IS ANNOYING...

start asking them personal questions that you know they would not want to answer, don't stop asking, answer everyone of their questions with one of your own, they WILL get the hint

When I run out of patience, I walk away. I find that it's better to be rude with them than to loose my temper with a person who has the sensitivity of a brick wall.
As long as it's just mildly annoying me, then I just keep telling them that I don't want to talk about it. Usually it's about the third time of them asking the same question that I give up and end the conversation.

I had that happen to me once. A crazy Paster was asking me too many things so I just nudged my best friend who was sitting next to me and he stopped the guy by having a conversation with him. I'm shy and large crowds scare the crap outta me so I prefered to stay mostly silent.
A chior directer really scared me later by scooting his chair closer to mine whlile I was scooting away from him. Lucky again my best friend was there to save me from the creepy guy.
So yes walking away does sound like the best answer.

Make them shut up for a second, and then ask them, "Now you tell ME, what makes you think any of this is YOUR business?"
If they keep it up, I'm with the lady who said to tell them to fukoff.
