It is a platform bed with a rectangle frame. Between the two sides of the bed, there are about 15 slats that go across where I put the mattress. The problem is that the two long sides of the frame have started to warp away from one another--I can push them back toward each other, but the wood is warped and they spring back, so the middle slats fall through. I'm wondering how to tie them together--with traction/tension--(aesthetics don't matter) so the slats won't fall through. I'm thinking of using a rope and knots--I can tie sailor knots, but don't know what design to use. Also, what is a non-stretch rope?

Meddlerus--how did you secure the wire? By twisting it?

You could try installing I - hole screws or I - hole bolts into the wood then then using rope and a trucker's knot to winch the boards together. You can use the truckers knots as pulleys. The more trucker's knots you add the more winching power you have. However you could also try pressing the boards in together without the slats in place so that the boards bow inwards. You would have to press them together for several days so they kind of held their shape. By having them bowed inwards it would make it hard to put back together but it would hold the boards solidly in place. Lastly you might try just securing the boards in place with wood glue. You'll have to keep it pressed together while the wood glue dries. Any wrope will stretch, even cable will stretch a little. I would probably use Nylon rope if you are going to use rope. Pound for pound Nylon is stronger than steel.

You could use wire. There are some devices that you can pull wire through that won't let the wire slip backward, it only allows it to go forwards.

My sense of humor went to bed a couple of hours ago, but my inner child still wants to stay up and play.

I've done this before by putting a screw in the inside middle of each rail then pulling them in with wire.

I used to have a similar problem. But my wood slats were too short.
Try duct tape.
