I've painted my kitchen cabinets, but even days later they still feel tacky to the touch. I've used quality semi-gloss paint (Behr -- I also painted the walls with Behr satin, no problems) and I cleaned and primed the surfaces ahead of time. The temp in the house has been in the 60s and 70s, so I'm not sure what the problem is. Any suggestions or remedies?

The primer was the correct primer (and also the same primer I used for the other paint), so that's not the issue. I live in Northern Ca where the humidity is low. I haven't been cooking in the kitchen because it's completely torn apart. And yes, I did stir the paint. Any further suggestions.

Oh yeah, and we've had fans running pretty much continually. And it was at least a day in between coats of paint. I had to get a new can of paint once my first quart ran out, so I am dealing with two different batches, so I don't think it's a bad batch of paint.

Open the windows up some to move some new air into the house on a sunny day when the barometric pressure is up. That will help dry it out. Also, it's good to let the first coat dry for about 24 hours or so before painting the second coat.

The only other things I can think of is if you got a bad batch of paint or if you forgot to stir the paint like you should.

Try running a fan in the kitchen, I'm guessing the first layer wasn't quite dry. Also with your cooking try not to boil anything or any other cooking methods that will add moisture to the air...

it sounds like you may have used a latex primer and an oil topcoat, you are not getting proper adhesion. If this is what you did you will have re prime with an oil based primer and re topcoat.

Need to get the humidity out of the house. Rent a de-humidifier.
