i have heard up to 3 times, but i am not sure. so i wanan know how many times they have edited their book? and peopel that answer saying well how many version of the bible are there? if you are dumb enough to say that then you are to dumb to answer my question. but let me answer that for you now, there are many versions of the bible... easier to understand versions, added "readers notes" versions and many more. but if you can show me two bibles that say different things... then i will revoke my question and admit to being an idiot. seing as that wont happen i have no fears. where as the book of mormon may have different versions, it has also changed its teachings, why is this?

Can you show me those very different version? I've seen various prints over the years from earliest editions to present day, and honestly the only changes I've seen has been what you noted to the bible, some grammatical changes to make it easier to understand, changing paragraphs to verse form for easier reference, adding chapter headings and footnotes to help study.
thanks

Well, there was an answerer who said you can get a copy of the written transcript for yourself. I'm interested in obtaining one on my own. I believe last I heard you can get one for $25 down by Temple Square in Salt Lake City at the Church Museum of History and Art, or somewhere in the same area. You can also get a neater copy from some people associated with Brigham Young University, but it costs more (maybe they went to Kinkos?) - so you can check out what changes have occurred. The essential text of the Book of Mormon has remained the same. I think there have been about 3,000 minor changes almost entirely DUE TO SCRIBE and COPY EDITOR errors for the most part. As a writer, that does not bother me at all. When I stay up late writing, sometimes my spelling and thought processes get a little jumbled. The translation process was not a literal word for word process, so naturally men working by candlelight or kerosene were going to have eye strain and get tired as well.
You were also asking about polygamy. That is in itself a separate question. In Jacob 2 it talks more about the Lord's standard, that He did not want the people in America who had come over with Lehi's family to live polygamy, and He told them so in that chapter. There is a proviso made in verse 30 for the only reason it would ever be practiced, "For if I will, saith the Lord of Hosts, raise up seed unto me, I will command my people; otherwise they shall hearken unto these things." Polygamy in ancient times was more trouble than it was worth due to the potential of abuse and the dishonorable use of it (see verse 31), and in my opinion it has only ever been a TEMPORARY practice due to having men killed off in wars. Feel free to see what I have answered other questioners regarding my opinion (with emphasis on opinion) regarding that subject and the prophecy of Joseph Smith on the Civil War.
Regarding blacks, there is a booklet about black pioneers over at the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers Museum. I just found a link on the internet for a DVD of black pioneer Jane Manning James and a musical presentation about her life that would be fun to see all the way through. (See link below)
By the way, you have such to-the-point questions, you might want to ask Institute teachers about some of them, or missionaries themselves. Have a happy day.

Yes, it is true that the Book of Mormon has been changed, but only for puncuation errors, verse groupings, etc. The Book of Mormon has NOT changed in content.

If you think this is so then I sugest you go and look at the source. The church has coppies of the origional transcript you can read. Instead of looking for answers from sources against the LDS church perhaps you should go see what they have to say.
Try LDS.org.

NO DOCTRINE OR TEACHINGS HAVE EVER CHANGED...EVER.
There have been grammatical and other human error type things fixed, which like most "bashers" I am sure you have a "list" of.
There have been NO doctrinal changes, none, nada, zip, zilch.
get over it.

Apparently as often as necessary to keep it's believers in line.
It costs money to run the big hospitals, for which I do not fault them. It is a pity though to believe the lies they believe. They are basically good people, but that alone isn't going to buy eternal life.
I sincerely wish God would turn them around to believe the truth.
