I was in the military when I started studying the bible.
Did you know that Jesus is going to destroy all the armies of this world? Revelation chapter 19 & Dan 2:44.
Do you know that German military officers were convicted of crimes, even though they were following orders?
Protection of self and family does not extend to "country". For Christians are Ambassadors substituting for Christ.
How is killing your enemy showing him love?
What do I think about the killing in Iraq?
It is another reason we need God's Kingdom, and not another man's kingdom.
I mourn the death of anyone and everyone, It is a waste of the gift of life that Jehovah has given us.
It is a testimony to the truth of the bible when it says the Great Harlot, (false religion) has blood guilt for all the death she has caused.
This is why I got a conscieneous objectors discharge from the military.

We would go to war if Jehovah told us to do so. However, as the poster just before me points out, that is not for true Christians.
If we are ordered to do so by human governmemts, we will follow the examples of the apostles: "We must obey God as ruler rather than men." - Acts 5:29.
It doesn't matter whether it is Iraq or whatever other nation it may be; we are subject first to our King, Jesus Christ, and to his God, Jehovah.
We are definitely looking forward to the fulfillment of this promise:
8 Come, YOU people, behold the activities of Jehovah,
How he has set astonishing events on the earth.
9 He is making wars to cease to the extremity of the earth.
The bow he breaks apart and does cut the spear in pieces;
The wagons he burns in the fire.
10 “Give in, YOU people, and know that I am God.
I will be exalted among the nations,
I will be exalted in the earth.”
11 Jehovah of armies is with us;
The God of Jacob is a secure height for us.

Jehovah's Witnesses do not partake in wars of any sort. They look to God for relief from the problems of this system and they would not risk killing any other Jehovah's Witnesses or innocent people in Iraq or anywhere else.

Yes, Jehovah's Witnesses do not like war. You can talk out stuff, and not kill. There's different ways to solve problems. Killing just isn't one of them.
Murder is Murder, weither your ordered to do it, or not.

Matt. 26:52: “Jesus said to him: ‘Return your sword to its place, for all those who take the sword will perish by the sword.’”
Isa. 2:2-4: “It must occur in the final part of the days that the mountain of the house of Jehovah will become firmly established above the top of the mountains . . . And he will certainly render judgment among the nations and set matters straight respecting many peoples. And they will have to beat their swords into plowshares and their spears into pruning shears. Nation will not lift up sword against nation, neither will they learn war anymore.”
Luke 6:27, 28: “I [Jesus Christ] say to you who are listening, Continue to love your enemies, to do good to those hating you, to bless those cursing you, to pray for those who are insulting you.”
Individuals out of all nations must personally decide what course they will pursue in the light of these and other scriptures.
Those who have heeded Jehovah’s judgment give evidence that he is their God.

Jehovah's Witnesses practice strict political and nationalist neutrality, since their primary allegiance is to the real government of God's Messianic Kingdom through Christ Jesus. Just like earthly foreigners, they do not involve themselves in controversies of the lands in which they are guests. Even if a Jehovah's Witness has certain rights as a citizen of an earthly government, he considers his primary citizenship to be as a subject of Jesus and Jehovah.
(John 18:36) Jesus answered: “My kingdom is no part of this world. If my kingdom were part of this world, my attendants would have fought
A Jehovah's Witness does not interfere with the functions of any government; only a clear precedence for biblical law would supercede a contradictory law of an earthly government.
(Acts 5:29) We must obey God as ruler rather than men
With regard to their own personal actions, Jehovah's Witnesses cannot help but note that Christianity is unique in that it has no provision for its adherents to engage in warfare. The Scriptures and Jesus Christ himself are quite clear to the Witnesses.
(Matthew 26:52) Jesus said to him: “Return your sword to its place, for all those who take the sword will perish by the sword
(Isaiah 2:4) They will have to beat their swords into plowshares and their spears into pruning shears. Nation will not lift up sword against nation, neither will they learn war anymore.
(2 Corinthians 10:3-4) We do not wage warfare according to what we are in the flesh. For the weapons of our warfare are not fleshly
(Luke 6:27-29) I [Jesus] say to you who are listening, Continue to love your enemies, to do good to those hating you, to bless those cursing you, to pray for those who are insulting you. To him that strikes you on the one cheek, offer the other also
