Definately book before you go! I am travelling to Aruba later this month for a week and I already had to change my trip activities because the snorkel tour I wanted is booked! Plus, I usually save 15-20% when I book online, in advance; and I can rest assure that the activity will be available around my own schedule. Most places don't require a credit card for reservations, so it doesn't hurt to reserve your spot. Just call within 48 hours to confirm the reservations. The island itself may not have a lot of tourists, however there is a large cruise ship docking the same week I will be there so hundreds of people are making reservations in advance. Also, get the "Visit Aruba Plus Card" which will help you save up to 20% on activities and restaurant dining. I am having my card shipped to my hotel so it will be waiting for me when I arrive. It costs $10 bucks but it already saved me $30 on my snorkel tour so I just made my money back!! Have a wonderful trip!

It is ALWAYS better to plan ahead for trips.

1) You can often save money on flights and hotels

2) If you just show up you could be arriving during some event in the area and not find any place to stay. (Happened to me and my ex wife, We went to Va Beach and there was a convention, The only Hotel that had a room was a suite in the most expensive hotel in the city, so instead of a regular room at Holliday inn for $30 a night we spent $120 a night and had to cut our trip from a week to 2 nights)

The trips can be found for less money if you book on arrival, but you may not get the trips you want when you want.

I would not book before. It is easy to book at most hotels. You can sometimes negotiate these prices.
