do NOT get a 6 week old kitten. This FAR too young for it to leave its mother. Since you appear to know nothing about kittens I suggest your get yourself a book from the library. Kittens should stay with the mother until at leasy 9 weeks, prefereably 12.
Then when you have learned a bit, go to your local Cats Protection League shelter and ask to adopt. Although at this time of year there won't be many kittens about now until the breeding season next year again.

If you want to find a male tabby kitten a good home, advertise in your local paper. Don't give it away. People think when you give a pet away, there is somethin wrong with it. Ask $10.00 at least.
Describe it such as this
"Beautiful mixed color tabby cat that must be sold due to allergies. Asking $10.00. Loving home, only. 123-345-2678 between 5pm and 10pm.
Look the person over when she comes. Watch how she reacts to the cat and how the cat reacts to her. Please, make sure she'd be a good owner before selling it for the original asking price, deciding to sell for less or giving it away.

I presume you want to house a tabby kitten in your home. Really you need to get in touch with the SPCA I think this is world wide. You can check on the internet where they would generally have a list of available kittens/cats they need homes for. Hope this helps

There are loads of healthy kittens at shelters. No-Kill shelters usually have healthier cats than state run shelters. 6 weeks is too young, but 8 is a little more safe. Good luck to you.

Along with the Rescue Centres in your area, you could also try kittenlist or the preloved website or adtrader.
http://www.kittenlist.co.uk/
http://www.preloved.co.uk/
http://www.adtrader.co.uk/
You could also have a look in local petshops windows & newsagents to see if anyone has put a card up.
There's also your local paper ... you might be able to find it's classifed ads section online if you look. Good luck in your search.

Look in the free ads or admag. Local shops sometimes have ads in. Or you may be able to get one from the local RSPCA or other charity.
Give him a loving home....
Good luck!
