Depends where you're starting from and going to.

If you are already in Europe, then the cheapest thing to do is to get a rail ticket.

If you ned to fly, then the cheaper airlines are Ryanair, Easyjet, bmibaby, FlyBe. It is worth checking airlines like BA at this time of year, because they do sometimes have offers that bring them under the price of the cheaper operators.
