Actually, the real question is, why would he have to rest on the 7th day?
Why would he have to communicate via a burning bush.
Why would he have to kill over and over (floods, plagues)
Why would he be upset at us for gaining knowledge of good and evil?
Why would he want us to be mindless sheep?
These are not things that, by definition, any god would ever have to do.

Peter wrote that a day to God is like a thousand years & a thousand years like a day. Peter also referred to some other before flood times.
So, I believe these days are periods of time. Especially since the sun, moon & stars were made a few days later that when God Said, "Let there be light!" the evening & the morning and the 1st day.
I have faith in God's Word. But I believe these 6 days to be 6 period of times that I don't know how long they are.
Eternal life is assured when one is born of God when ones sins are washed away in His redeeming Blood through faith. Person is then the righteousness of Christ. Person cannot take away or add to their righteousness. God looks at person and see the righteousness of Christ. We are not under law. We are under Grace. We are not more righteous by years of reading the bible or service to the Lord. We get rewards for our good works, but works aren't what redeems us.
God can create in 6 days (periods of time) because He did do it.

this isn't to guard the present-day political view referred to as Creationism which asserts that the Bible says that the universe and residing issues were created in 24-hour days some thousand years in the past, yet you may want to comprehend that, in fairness to the Bible list, the Bible obviously facilitates an indefinite era of time for the creation of the universe in its taking off words in Genesis a million:a million & 2. In verse 2, if evidently says that 'darkness' became over the earth, not the universe or heavens. the following 4 "days" do not use the Hebrew be conscious for "create", yet "make", and apparently take care of the clearing of a cloud hide, 'making' first mild, then solar, moon and stars seen contained in the sky. And Gen. 2:4 obviously shows that the "days" were not the 24-hour form, calling all seven "days" ONE "day". suitable regards, Mike

Hi, David.
Anyone who says God isn't big enough, has a limited concept of God.
Please do not distort the word by adding to it. I agree, everyone needs to be born again. Not everyone will accept immediately the implications of 6 days of creation, that may come later.
That is why I usually just quote Romans 10:8-10 The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart (that is, the word of faith which we preach): that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.
For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
Let's not put a heavier burden on the unsaved than is necessary. If the discussion revolves around this issue, then by all means, we must establish the foundation of Genesis which reveals the source of corruption in the universe.
Thanks, David. God Bless. Shalom

Humans have a limited way of thinking. Our brains can only conceive so much. Jesus told His disciples that He was going away to prepare a place for us . A place that our minds cannot even conceive. We look around and see what He can create in 6 days, He has been working on it for over 2000 years. Of course God can make the universe. right?

The Bible does not say that God made the universe in six days. It does not even say that God made the earth in six days. Genesis is the story and beginning of life on this planet. Before God created mankind, the planet was already here. Genesis said that the earth was without form and void and covered by water. This part of the creation of the earth is not required to be within the 6 days of creation week. It could well have been here for millions of years prior to the actual creation of life. Although, I do not doubt God's ability. He could have, if He chose to, create the earth and everything in it in six days. But according to the Genesis account, the earth was already here.

Hi David, how can we with all our limitations possibly comprehend the power of God and what He can do,you and i can do things that a worm could never begin to fathom.
David, as a brother in Christ may I give a little advice to you, too many people have been hurt and felt rejection by our over-zealous use of scripture, and too many have used it to judge far to harshly, we must not lose sight of the fact that the written word of Christ has power, but the word of Christ truly lived has the power to change wounded people, by your example you will be known.
I say this because for a long time after my conversion I was more of a hindrance to the kingdom than a help, I was forever preaching down to people, using the word as a stick to beat people over the head, what a conceited fool I was, I have been humbled in many ways since and much prefer to walk the talk these days.
I have learned that a kind word, a sympathetic ear and a little compassion will yield far more results in helping to change people than scaring them with hell and damnation.
Don`t ever forget that Jesus came to set prisoners free and give them life as compared to the Pharisee`s who killed with their words of authority.
look at it this way people will respond to the word if they see it in action, Jesus certainly rebuked the so called pious men of the temple, but look how He treated the down-trodden, with positive action both humble and compassionately.
God bless you.

First of all, David, the Creation of the World [not the Universe] is contained in the Genesis, which is the beginning of the Torah, which is the Holy Book of the Jews, aka Old Testament of the Christians. So, whom do you think you are mocking?
Quoting Jesus would be a mistake, because there's not Testament of Jesus, himself. The Testaments are all of others saying Jesus said this and He said that.
And then Moses? Are you going forth and back or what?
Perhaps it would help you if you could get out of ranting and into a logical frame of mind before you ask provocative questions.
The Genesis [which, please note, is common to the Jews, Christians and the Muslims] says "In the Beginning all was dark and void. And there was the Word. And the Word was God. And God said "Let there be Light."
Now, if I were to apply the simplest logic, I'd be asking "Just who is this that is saying this, please?" Because he wasn't even a gleam in his mother's eye, at that time.
My Muslim friend went, automatically, "Ibrahim" because he was the first prophet!
Sorry, but even Adam wasn't born yet.
Now, everyone knows about "the willing suspension of disbelief", don't we?
All Religious texts made such simplistic statements blaming God or God's Will to explain something beyond their ken.
It was merely to satiate the most basic questions that Man has about his origins and so on, to which nobody really has the answers.
There's a lot of Good to be learnt from Religion and one should really focus one's thoughts on that.
It's your life.
All the best.
Cheers

Saying that God required ANY time to create the universe would place limits on Him. God is Omnipotent - He didn't even need the 6 days He used! An all powerful God can do anything!

Actually, if modern cosmology holds true and the big bang expanded out of a relativistic scalar field 13.8 billion years ago, it did not take God six days to make the universe. It took less than a millionth of a second.
Now - the universe in the way we see it today, with stars and planets with heavy elements, in galaxies? That likely took about five hundred million years, as the hydrogen soup began to - in line with the evidence we see in the Cosmic Background Radiation (CBR), in its dense spots, compress into superstars that burned away the hydrogen soup into the transparent plasma we have today.
That did not happen in six days, no matter what anyone's got to say about it. And we know this, because of all the evidence God left as to what he actually DID do.

David Israel,
You are a Christian. I do know that you seem to have some psychological disorders and therefore may not be capable of hearing dissent. Nonetheless, I must tell you david that I think this evil and deceptive form of missionizing you are perpetrating is degrading Christianity and the good, normal christians who practice it.

. It is, by definition, impossible for it to be "jewish" to believe in jesus. "Jewish" is, by defintion, what jews have historically and contemporarily believe. Since in neither scenario do we find "believing in jesus", then we must clearly realize that belief in jesus is not something "jewish". You can call it "biblical" (and still be wrong), but certainly not "jewish".
. On the side, the subject of Isaiah 53 is promised a "long life" and "seed" (i.e. physical children). Clearly this isn't about jesus.
. And Isaiah 7 is clearly not messianic if you read the whole chapter. and "alma" doesn't mean virgin either. You'd know that if you spoke hebrew (I guess learning basic hebrew wasn't part of your "extensive jewish upbringing", huh?)
. On the side, Isaiah 9 can't be about jesus since, according to christianity, he's the "son" not the "father" (as the verse states). Nor did he have control of the government (to the contrary, the roman government killed him). And he certainly did not establish "endless peace".
