There are many ways to create a PDF file, especially if you use a Mac -- Aqua, the OS X graphics layer, is built on PDF technology so you can make a PDF from any print dialog box, for example. Viewing a PDF is also easy on a Mac; double click it, and it opens in Preview.
To actually change it, you need PDF editing software. Adobe Illustrator is probably the gold standard, although you can do other things in Acrobat itself.

Hi there,
In order for you to type and save a PDF file you can download Openoffice writer and on the save as there will be a filter that allows you to save this type of document. It is freeware so you're saved from keys and license issues. To get it you can go to "www.openoffice.org".
To edit a PDF file you need commercial software since as far as I know there is no freeware or opensource application with this cabapility.

You can't if you only have Reader. If you have Acrobat or the like, then you can use the "Touch up Text" tool to some extent. The best thing to do is do all your typing in MS Word and print or convert to a PDF file.

You would need a program such as Adobe Illustrator or Acrobat to do so... But that is if the PDF file isn't protected.
