There's a cat that lives outside, and I'm pretty sure he has owners, because he was wearing a flea collar for a while. However, he is almost strictly (from what I've noticed) an outdoor cat. His eye has gotten progressively more irritating to him I've noticed, over the past few days, and now he's got it shut completely. He has a lot of that normal "cat eye goo" along the bottom of his eye. I opened it and looked inside, and it just looked normal. Maybe he has something in his eye that I can't see? I don't know who his owners are so it's hard to ask them, or see if they even care. I wish I could take him to the vet.

Take him to the vet.

Obviously, his owners don't care about him and you do - take him along, get him treated and if you can find out who the owners are, send them the bill. Alternatively, contact an animal rescue charity (I'm not sure where you are , but in the UK, I would suggest the RSPCA) and report him as a stray, or even take him to a local shelter and say he's a stray. They would be able to treat him and find him a new home with people who will care for him. Good luck, and thank you for caring.

It's so sad that some pet owners aren't "responsible". This is just one more example of why cats should be "inside" only.

This cat needs to see a vet asap. He may have scratched the cornea (only a vet can tell with eye drops and an examination). If the eye is left untreated it can become very serious.

Please take the cat to a vet, they will notify the owner (you can give them the name & address) so you won't have to. You sound like a very caring and compassionate person, wish there were more of you out there!

God bless you.

Sounds incredibly undesirable.. The cat could ought to have her eye bumped off. maximum vets won't value you and could nevertheless help the cat medically using fact it incredibly is not any longer your cat. some vet places of work also have a mini shield interior the place of work! If no longer, carry her in and clarify the region. The vet could desire to be waiting that may additionally assist you. i could no longer even think of any vet turning down an animal in such condition. If the cat is friendly, i'm effective she would have the ability to hit upon a house. She should not be exterior like that.. ):

My cat had something similar and it ended up being an eye infection I took her to the vet and got a jell ointment that you squirt into the eye it cleared it up in a couple days.
If you don't take your cat to the vet and they end up getting sicker or losing the eye it is considered animal cruelty and you could be charged with neglect. No matter what I would take your cat to the vet in this case.

He has a serious eye infection that needs to be treated with an anti-biotic. If you cannot afford to take him to the vet, call "Kitty Angels" in your area, affiliated with Pet Smart and see if they can take him in.
they can treat him and find a great home for him.
Those eyes must be treated however and he is contagious to other cats. Poor kitty :-((

one of my cats had something like this, took him to the vet, found out it was pink-eye. erythromyacin cleared it up in a week. better check your local animal regulations, if you treat someone elses animal, you could have some liability issues, though i don't know why anyone would sue you for making their cat well...
