jesus gave testimonies in the americas. unless i have realy read into this wrong, and all the answerrs i have gotten have been wrong, doesnt this tell of the second coming? i mean, the next time god (because god is jesus) comes to earth, shouldnt all the christians disapeqar to heaven for the rapture? so if jesus did come to earth and visit america, then i shouldnt be here, yet i am, and if the mormons consider themselves christian, shouldnt they be gone too? unless he did come back and the bible really meant to say his 3rd coming? but i dont think god makes mistakes.

When Christ visited the americas as recorded in 3 Nephi, it was not the Second Coming. Daisykristina brings up a good point; just because Jesus makes a visitation, does not mean it is the Second Coming. There are numerous references to post-mortal appearances made by Jesus in the Bible. While a few of these are described as visions, it is apparent that some are quite real and physical. And none of them were considered the Second Coming.

Matthew 28:9-10, 28:16-18; Mark 16:9-14; Luke 24:15, 24:34, 24:36-43; John 20:14-17, 20:19-20, 20:26-30, 21:4, 21:14; Acts 1:3, 7:55, 9:5, 9:10, 9:27, 10:40-41, 13:31, 18:9, 22:18, 23:11, 26:16; 1 Corinthians 15:5-8.

Christ's visit to the Americas was not the second coming. This was part of His first coming, meaning first coming after His resurrection. In the Bible He tells His apostles that there are other sheep that are not of that fold. This was in refernce to the Ten Tribes of Isreal that had been scattered by the Assyrians in the Old Testament. Part of these scattered tribes were in the Americas and their record is the The Book of Mormon which stands as another witness of Jesus Christ. Believe me, you will know when the second coming happens. That is the time will every knee shall bow and every tongue confess that He is the Christ (Romans 14:11). That did not happen. If it had there would not have been a New Testament because they all would have been converted to Christ. Also, try reading Matt. 24, or if you can get to JST Matt (the Joseph Smith Translation of Matt 24, where he changed the order of the verses). That chapter talks about two things, the destruction of Jeruselum known as the Abomination of Desolations, and the things that will proceed the Second Coming.

Keep in mind the Bible says Jesus visited his apostles in Jerusalem after His Ascension too. So, I think it's safe to assume he can have little visits without it being the big 2ND coming event.

Thanks

edit - I guess that's something we see differently then, I've always though that when Jesus visited Paul on the road, He was literally there - I guess that's something we could both pray about to know -thanks again.

You clearly dont understand the beliefs of the ,ormons, they are Christian but dont believe in the Jesus part of the Bible, they believe that Jesus came to the Americas, and therefore they dont believe in the Rapture part because it would be a contradiction, they believe that the lost tribes of Israel were the Native Americans of America so that kinda makes sense on account of Jesus coming to America and appearing to Mormoni..so the answer toyour question is that they believe Jesus came first timt to the Americas and even if they did believe in the Jesus part of the bible then they would believe that it is just the Next time that Jesus comes back that there will bethe rapture

The church believes that he came after he was resurrected. He tells Mary that he has other flocks to see and then is gone for 3 days, and it's believed that this is when he came. So no, it would not be called a 2nd coming, since it was part of him being back after being resurrected.

You are really grasping at anything you can to get some sort of justification aren't you...

Daisykristina and Brian are both correct. You are reading into the completely wrong way.

They let us know Joseph Smith wasn't racist, yet he WROTE this himself. humorous how his god reflects the concepts of the early 1800s in New England rather of reflecting God's unconditional love for all his babies.

Hmmm ! So you are saying none of us exist, and this is not real. That explains a great deal. I think I have finally, thought your teachings, seen the light, and will from now on open my mind and body to God's will. Thanks.

LDS?

Galatians 1:6
I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel:
7 Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ.
8 But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.
