The standard HD output for Playstation 3 is HDMI. I have a 3 year old maybe 4, HDTV that I was hoping to hook the PS3 up to, however my HDTV does not have HDMI inputs. What can I do to solve this problem? Is there some sort of HDMI adapter to the RCA High Definition Cable? Thanks

The PS3 will have component video out (red, green, and blue RCA connectors), which are *capable* of carrying HD signals, but something that's still a matter of debate and uncertainty is whether the PS3 *will* output high-definition signals through them (as the XBox 360 does), or whether, out of concern for the copy-protection of Blu-Ray videos, it will limit the component output to a lower resolution.

What Sony wants is to have you buy a new HDTV that will be compliant with HDMI. The PS3 will only out put true HD content via the HDMI out put slot, and only with a TV that has HDCP. That being said the output from the component cables will almost be HD, more like ED TV. If you have a DVI input on your TV, there are HDMI to DVI cables out there for you to use. But since the TV is almost 4 years old, probably no HDCP, there is no guarantee that the signal will be HD even with the proper cables, more like Enhanced Definition TV. This is because Sony thinks you are a criminal out to steal their product and will not let anyone see true HD unless they have hardware that fits their standard of safe, HDCP (High-Bandwidth Digital Content Protection) compliant. Meaning, if your TV does not have HDCP, even if its a true HD TV, all HD signals from the PlayStation 3 including new bluray disks will be down converted to current DVD quality.

PS Boycott SONY

no. it will not come in true high definition (1080p) you need a new tv or just settle for 480i, which uses the 5 green blue and red wires.
