Google "United States Marine Corps." The Marine Corps website has a lot of information regarding the current state of affairs in the Corps, and you'll find other sites linked to historical societies that have followed the evolution of the Corps from its inception. Want a REALLY good perspective of the Corps? Talk to a Marine or an ex-Marine. Don't know any? Call your local VFW hall and tell them you're doing a class project on the Marines. They'll hook you up.

Since the above posters have given such bad answers, I'll help. First, there are many, many books on the histroy of the Corps at your local library. You may also find "Leatherneck" magazine at the news stand of your local book store like Border's or Walden's books. Last but not least is the USMC web site. http://www.usmc.mil

You could set up an appointment with a marine recruiter. Let them know you're there to find out as much information as you can.
