I was in Thailand in April and we found the cheapest way is to book your tickets direct with thai airways, just give them a call and you can collect the tickets at the airport. So much cheaper than the travel agents over there, they add on alot of money to the original price of the ticket. Have a great time, you will love it.

I say bus it! You should be able to get a VIP bus for under $15 USD one way.
There is no point of flying since it isnt that far.
