The entire region was put under a lot of stress through the delivery, so it's possible that there are still some microtears that keep opening up whenever you have a bowel movement. I'd also recommend stool softeners. Try Metamucil, which is a fiber supplement, but stick with the kind where you mix the powder into water, since it'll be absorbed quicker and more effectively. Also, many women develop hemorrhoids during pregnancy, which would be the reason for your bleeds. In any case, taking fiber supplements can't hurt at all, and it will give you fast relief.

Talk about having a flash back... It's a memory I try to forget. :) Anyway, I had the same problem with my first. (I have 3 now.) During my first delivery I had a 3rd degree episiotomy and I was SO wrapped up in being a new mama that I didn't even think about the fact that I wasn't going #2. About a week went by and I was Miserable!!! With a big fat capital M. I would sit on the toilet just knowing I would go and then... nothing. I resorted to drinking a half bottle of Mineral Oil. I couldn't choke it all down. That didn't help me either. I was too far gone. So, I called my doctor and begged them to help me. I wanted to go into the office and have them fix my problem! :) (They still remind me and laugh at me when I go in for my annual.) But, they told me to go to the drug store and buy an enima. I'd never had to do that before. So when I got off the phone with the doctor's office my grandfather who lived 40 miles away called. He was a gruff man but I learned that day that he could be very loving! When I answered the phone he yelled, "Who the hell has been on the phone?" I replied, "Me grandpa..." I couldn't help but cry. He listened to my story because I didn't give him a chance to stop me. I just let it all out and when I was finished he said, "I'll be right there." And he hung up the phone. I was stunned because I couldn't believe I just cried and told my grandpa that I was constipated and ... he was on his way.? He must have sped because he was at my house in no time. He brought me an enima and then went uptown to get 2 more. I took me all 3 if that tells you how bad of shape I was in. Anyway, after it was all said and done I felt like a new person. The only problem I had was hymroids. And yes they bled some. But I was fortunate enough that they went away on their own. Some women have trouble with hymroids and they don't go away. I'd give it a week. Unless you are so miserable that you feel like spilling your beans to anyone and everyone that will listen. That would call for immediate help. :) Good luck to you, God bless and CONGRATULATIONS on your little one.

Unfortunately, this is normal. Sounds like it is making tiny tears in your rectum. If you are having bloody stools...that would be a problem you would need to address with a physician. This should go away in a couple weeks, but if it gets significantly worse, call your O.B.
In the meantime, drink plenty of fluids and high fiber foods like fruits. The constipation is a response to your hormones. Also, it can be a result of breastfeeding.

Yes this is normal. Mention it to your doctor when you go next, but in the mean time use your sitz bath to ease the discomfort and to help the swelling go down. Use an over the counter stool softener, but not a laxitive. Drink lots of water and eat healthy. In time it will all heal. It gets better. Congrats on the new baby!

The constipation is probably normal caused by a fluctuation in your hormones, but I am not a healthcare proffessional, the bleeding is probably from straining to go, and causing hemmorhoids, or aggravating ones that were already caused by childbirth and pushing. Call your ob/gyn immediately to rule out other complications.

Many times if we strain too hard, it will bleed...Especially with constipation, but a quick look from a doctor will tell...Only if it doesn't clear up in a couple of weeks on its own...You could also have a fissure, if the doctor didn't do the right kind of incision...They bleed on straining, too...Good luck...

Try some fiberchoice in chewable tablets before going into labor.
It will definitely relief the constipation and you'll feel 10 times healthier in the long run. If you bleed please contact the delivery doctor and nurse!

HI, Let your doctor know but i don't think it's serious. I assume it will go away in time of healing after giving birth...........but you might think about a laxative or drink more water with your veggies. also soak in the tub with hot not hot will it burns you but where you can tolerate it. good luck !!
