I have never lied to make people believe I am a Christian. Why would I want to make myself look stupid?

I have never in my life claimed to be a Christian. I don't feel the need to constantly advertise my disbeliefs or to try to convince others that I'm right and they're wrong, but if the subject comes up I don't hesitate to let people know that I'm an atheist.
You give me one evidence that there is not an invisible unicorn standing right behind you. While you're at it, why don't you give me one evidence that god exists?
I have seen the air I breathe (have you ever been outside in cold weather?). I can feel it too, all it takes is to swing my hand fast through the air and I feel that something is there, even though I can't usually see it. I can feel wind too, and wind is just moving air. On the other hand, I have never felt god, seen him, heard him or gotten any evidence that such a thing exists, so I simply don't believe it.

I don't lie. Here's the rub, being an agnostic does not define who I am,it is a part of me.Many Christians(not all-I won't be a sweeping and generalising as you) are defined by their beliefs which blinkers them to anyone or anything that does not conform to their way of thinking. We are only here for a limited amount of time and should try to grow as people and experience life and the people on this planet not restrict ourselves to an outdated text of any kind. Why can't you accept that some people do not or cannot believe in God?We're not the ones throwing things at people outside abortion clinics or on TBN asking for cash donations every 2 minutes so people can buy their way into heaven.

I would never conceal my beliefs from anyone but I'm a history and literature teacher, and believe it would be wrong to present them in any context that they might be seen as indoctrinating. To this effect I offer well-informed and balanced arguments on religious topics (I am better read in scripture than many Christians). My students don't know what I actually think, but from what I can tell a little over half think I'm probably a hardcore Christian, and the rest think I'm a hardcore atheist.
As for that old air chestnut: You can see air the minute you puff it into a balloon. Bring me a balloon full of God and we can talk about proof.

First, your assertion is wrong. Have you been reading the answers to your other asinine questions?
Second, for those who DO lie to Christians and are atheists... it's usually because they don't want to be confronted or persecuted for their lack of belief. It's because of people like you.
One piece of evidence that God does not exist? You do realize you're placing the burden of proof where it doesn't rest, right?
You believe that God exists. Therefore, you must provide the proof that he DOES. I'll prove that God doesn't exist the minute that you prove that you do NOT owe me $10,000.
The problem with your air analogy is that we can measure air. We can feel the physical effects of air. Air is actually tangible. Smoke is proof of air.
We say God does not exist because there IS NO EVIDENCE to prove that he does. If you've got any evidence (besides the demonstrated arguments to emotion, personal experience, and appeal to power, namely, fear and hell, all of which are refuted), then lay it on us, bucko.

Strange, last time I checked, science used all five senses.
I feel my lungs fill with air. I feel the breeze being produced by the fan beside my computer. I can taste and smell the slightly metallic scent in the air caused by being surrounded by three computers. I can hear the sound not only of the fan blades but the sound of the air vibrating against my eardrum.
So why on earth do you think, "you can't see the air" makes a bit of difference?

I've never claimed to be a Christian.
I can't give you evidence God doesn't exist, that's definitively impossible. I can give you evidence that the Christian idea of God doesn't exist, since the Bible which he supposedly inspired is wrong about the origins of both Earth and life. I'm sure you can find plenty of evidence for both on the internet or at your local library.

Um, no, not so much. I never claim to be Christian. I am embarrassed for most people who do so.
Air is not invisible. It is invisible to the naked eye. With the proper equipment, you can see it. I've seen it. Take a physics course.

I lie to nobody. I am proud to be an atheist. I will never back down when I know I'm right.
Your last statement is a weak analogy.

You obviously don't know just how badly atheists are discriminated against, in this society. So yes, most of us are "in the closet".
We like to keep our jobs, and not be despised.
On the other hand, you've got people like me who are disgusted by this prejudice. And I do everything in my power to tell Christians that I'm an atheist. And then I tell them why.
It pisses them off something awful. But when I'm finished, they go home and rethink their beliefs. And that's all I care about. Maybe one of these days, you'll run into me too. :)
