When your child is being bullied.

We had the same problem at our son's elementary school. Our school district claims to have a zero tolerance when dealing with bullies. That is left up to the discretion of the building principle. After several attemtps to allow the school to deal with this, we finally told them that if they could not get a handle on the situation we were going to file assault charges against this kid. Guess what? That got their attention. The fact is, we were dead serious. When you are dealing with the safety of your child, you have to take whatever steps ae necessary to protect them. Your first step should be to let the school know that there is a problem. If they are unable or unwiiling to resolve this, your next step should be with your school board. If the bully is still terrorizing your child, go to the police department & file a report.

Bullying is a huge problem in our schools. Unfortunately the anti-bullying policy is only as good as the principal who enforces it.

I would call and write the principal about the incident. Set up a meeting. I would ask for a meeting with just your child, you and the principal since sometimes the bully's parents are the ones at fault, too. You don't want to flame the fire and make things worse for your child. Ask for a firm resolution to the problem. Ask the principal to meet with the bully and his parents to inform them of his decision regarding your child. Also, ask the principal to designate a safe place for your child to go if the bullying continues.

If you are unhappy with the results of the meeting, call the office of the school superintendent to set up a meeting with the superintendent. The squeaky wheel gets the best results. Don't back down about protecting your child.

I would talk to anyone who would listen, I would set up meetings with as many people as possible. There is nothing I wouldn't do to get it to stop. You have to be an advocate for children, the one being bullied as well as the bully. You have to find out what is causing it so that it will stop for good. I would not rest until it came to a peaceful conclusion, there is no excuse for it.

Talk to the principal. Ask him to talk the the bully and it's parents. If that does nothing, then talk to the parents yourself. Again, if that does nothing, then ask the principal to set up a meeting with you, the principal, the bully, your child and the bullies parents. Once they see what their child is doing to yours, then hopefully that'll help. But also talk to a few teachers (maybe a fav of your child) and ask that they "be there" if and when it is needed.

At those ages, you need to get proactive and talk to the school and the parent of the bully. Have Zero tolerance for bullying.

Talk to the teacher, principal, and parents..
If you go directly to the bully, he/she
in turn, will take its anger toward your child..

Principal. with no further action take it to the kid's parents. if they don't care and its bad enough, then tell the police about the school's inaction and they will do something to pressure the school to take care of it.
