I usually put hot water in the kitchen sink and set the chicken in it, it will thaw pretty quickly that way. If the water starts to get cold, add more hot water.

Not a good idea to try it, but in an emergency you can put it in a bowl of cold water (NOT WARM because it would aid bacteria multiplication). Move the chicken round frequently and let the water move around the body cavity of the chicken. If you do this you must make sure that the chicken is cooked right through. Use a meat thermometer or put a knife into the thickest part and make sure the juices run clear.
Its far better to plan ahead and let it defrost in a fridge for 24 hrs

Fill up a bowl or your sink with warm water & place the chicken in it. This will help it thaw faster. Keep up with it or the water will get cold and the chicken won't thaw so quickly!

Frozen chicken is so easy to thaw. There are several ways you can try.

#1, if your going to boil it or grill it you can cook it frozen, just season your water or baste while you are grilling.

#2,place chicken in cold water to thaw

#3,thaw in your microwave on defrost (fastest way)

#4,place in your refrigerator over night

Take care and God bless....fellow GRITS Girl!

u really shouldn't try to defrost your chicken fast.. i put it in cold water in the fridge covered.. that is the only way to do it faster than the usual way of no water.. using the microwave will make it tough and yucky,.. just pull it out the night before and leave it in the fridge..

i learned the hard way trying to cook FAST isn't the best way.. without getting into a detailed story i burned 75% of my face and my neck using a pressure cooker b/c i wanted to everything fast.. now i take my time, and cook based on the correct times.

Put it in cold water and let it sit. Or use the micro wave defrost setting. Be careful not to over do it. The slower way is better for the taste. Never use hot water as salmonella can develop.

Put it in the microwave on the "defrost" setting (NOT the "cook" setting)--my microwave asks for weight (in pounds) and you enter that, and it goes automatically...but I can tell you it's about 9 minutes per pound. I do this all the time. Just keep an eye on it b/c sometimes it'll actually start cooking the meat.
