I got my wisdom teeth removed on Friday and yesterday night (night of day 4) I noticed while brushing my teeth that on the furthest back bottom molar, a little gap can be seen where there are the sutures, right between it and the tooth in front of it (I guess the doctor had to cut into the gum in front of it?). It looks like my last molar extends down a little more, cut out in the shape of a small, thin V. Also, the sutures on the extraction site (I guess I was given 2 stitches on the area around my last molar that wasn't my wisdom tooth) look like they've been covered by some weird lighter-than-skin colored growth I can only see a little bit of string left and the rest has been grown over.

When I smile, the bottom gum/tooth area feels kinda funny and "tight." So can I expect the pain of dry socket soon or what? I've also been on Amoxicillin antibiotic pills 3 times a day since day 1.

The stitches are non-dissolvable, which is why I'm worried if new gum is growing over it (which seems doubtful in just 4/5 days), it'll hurt when being removed.

And the weird gap looks like someone has torn out a little wedge of my gum inbetween the tooth BEFORE my wisdom tooth (which are now gone) and the one in front of it. It also looks like there's a little grain of rice stuck in there or something and the gum around my last molar looks like it's gonna grow OVER the molar and feels really... "loose," if you will.

The "tight" sort of uncomfortable pressure around the area when smiling, I didn't feel until after I brushed and rinsed with watered-down Listerine last night.

no, the gaps you see are normal, I had my wisdom teeth pulled a few months ago and I remember seeing that as well. They will start to feel more normal again when it starts healing, regarding the tightness you feel when you smile.

Those stitches will fall out when they are not needed any more, soon it won't even hurt, because I pulled a few of mine out by myself when they were sicking out like that. But wait until some fall out by themselves, or it really doesn't hurt at all. I would just be patient for right now.

I've never had dry socket, but this is what everyone else told me, "There's no thinking you have dry socket, IF YOU HAVE DRY SOCKET, YOU WILL KNOW IT!"

Lol. Well, good luck!

I got my wisdom teeth cut out about a month ago and I still got a little gaps where my teeth were. You will have Little gaps for about 2 or 3 months. I got all my wisdom teeth pulled at once and I could barely smile. It hurts when you smile or when you scrape something against it. Dry socket is where you suck on something like a straw or smoke a cigarette and the blood clot come outs and can also some for blowing or spitting something to that nature. Your stitches will dissolve but they will get on your nerves in the mean time. Every time you eat you'll know they are there. Ice is really good for your teeth. Gargle salt water for 2 wks to keep the area around the stitches clean. Don't brush near you cuts that will make it bleed and might give you dry socket.

That light skin colored thing is something the oral surgeon wll use to help your gums start a blood clot that eventually gets asorbed by the body. What yu discribed sounds normal after having a tooth extratced.

Be sure to call the dentist and let them know you are bleeding. Now in the mean time take a tea bag ( regular tea) wet it and put it where the teeth were removed and bite down on it. That should stop the bleeding.
