Eat when youre hungry! I dont understand how people can starve themselves... That being said, dont stuff yourself when you eat. Eat until you're full. Make sure you drink a full 8oz WHILE youre eating. Chew every bite as if it might be your last. This will make you get full faster and eat less. You should eat every 2-3 hours. Make sure youre drinking water all day as well. Keep lots of snacks at your desk and try to avoid eating more than one at a time and less than 2 hours after the last one. Things I keep at work: soy chips, raw almonds, yogurt, kashi dry cereal, weight control oatmeal, Pria (energy/protein bars). That way I can eat what I feel like. Keep it to only serving (I actually count out the chips I can eat and put the rest of the bag away before I start). You should find yourself eating 5-8 times per day. Make sure youre getting at least 1000 cal per day (visit www.thedailyplate.com if you dont want to keep track of your cal yourself). Most importantly, remember that a "diet" should be a lifestyle change. Don't do anything you can't stick with long term or you'll see all the weight you lose just come back.

When starting a diet, it is always a great idea to drink as much water as you can handle. The least amount of water you should drink in a day is 8 full glasses. I know it sounds backwards, but the more you drink, the more your body flushes out and you will lose all of the water wait. Try not to wait until lunch to eat either, If possible, eat some carrots or peices of apple or other friut in between meals, that way your body always has something in it and doesnt think it needs to savior whatever it had earlier. Salads are always good. I did a diet for 2 months and lost 30 pounds. I drank nothing but water and unsweet iced tea. The only meat i ate was chicken and fish and when i had salad, i only used italian dressing, nothing creamy. Good luck.

Eating smaller meals about 4 or 5 times a day can be more beneficial than eating bigger meals 2 or 3 times a day. Your body is able to breakdown and metabolism the food better and less will be stored as fat.
You are off to a right start; you want to eat something in the morning like hot cereal or eggs; a small snack like fruit or veggies is good for between breakfast and lunch. For lunch you can do the salad thing or have a protein shake to mix things up; followed by another snack between meals, and then a high protein dinner like chicken, fish, or steak.
Protein is good and drink lots of water.

you are goin to die eating bird food. try just leaving out things like cheese -- its all animal fat and that is bad for you if you just pack on as weight. Reduce your meat portions to something healthy like 6-8 oz a day. Of course it is best to drop deserts that are fats and sugars but you need to look at balancing out meals for life by eating less. Trying to get by on an apple and salad isn't good for you. Find something inbetween.

I would suggest to just eat smaller portions of food to start out with instead of completely changing your diet. It makes it an easier transition. I have discovered Starkist tuna's new flavored tuna and it is yummy. Very good for you also. I eat that with a few crackers for lunch and it is very filling. It is pretty moist also so it does not take much mayo in it. Good luck!
