Ten-pin bowling is a good laugh. I don't know where you live, but there's a place in London that combines a cocktail bar with bowling lanes (http://www.bloomsburybowling.com/). Something like that would combine fun with a Friday night out.
As for presents - something for use on her travels? Travel game, stress relievers, travel kit, mini travel toiletries?
Good luck!

The cinema is so cliche... to me "fun and entertaining" is something out of the ordinary, where you actually get to talk and have fun with each other.
For instance, If you have a dog, bring it along and go to a dog park. Pack a picnic basket with some nice snacks and a bottle of wine, and find a spot to watch the sunset, or just go for a walk in the park with the dog.
Or go to a comedy club, or go watch a local band play. If you try to think of something that she'd really like, she'll appreciate the gesture no matter what it is.
As for a present.... flowers are never out of style.

How about go karting? That's always a riot. It was one of the first dates my bf & I went on and the rest of the date went really well... As for a "pick me up" present, a single flower is sweet and it should make her smile... Unless you give flowers all of the time, then it's not as special... Do you have any cute pics of the two of you? If so, you could frame one and give it to her (a nice gesture since you're apart so much); if not, maybe you should bring a camera on your date (disposable even) and take some silly pictures to come in handy for gifts at a later date... Good luck :o)

Many times the most simple of things can be the most enjoyable. Go window shopping in a mall and play it by ear for dinner. Nothing fancy or expensive. Just enjoy each other's company and you would be suprised at how much you can learn about eachother this way while having an enjoyable time.

You can take dance lessons, like salsa or ballroom. I've always wanted to do that. You may also want to take her to laser tag or paint ball. I am 37 years old, and I would like to do some of these things myself. A play or concert in the park. When you pick her up, if you have to get gas or something bring her a flower from inside the store. My ex-husband used to do this when we traveled and I thought it was sweet. Find out what she like to eat her favorite treat and give it to her with a bow on it.

Take her to an indoor skydiving facility and let her fly around in the cushioned, forced air chamber for a few minutes with you. As a follow-up, you might invite her to take skydiving lessons weekly with you, until you can both get your AFF certification, or take flying lessons and take her for a cruise around the city where you live and land at a different field for dinner sometime...there are lots of cool ideas out there...use your imagination!

Make her watch porn in your bedroom, and drink Lambrini. Then switch the lights off and start crying hysterically. Tell her you think you are losing your mind. Then give her a garden gnome, Tell her its evil and makes you do bad things. Then ask her to leave at 7:30pm, as your boyfriend will be back.
That will be very entertaining and out of the ordinary.
