My family never was close knit, and I want that with my family. The holidays make it seem brighter and seeing the look on my kid's faces, make me happy

When I go to the grocery store my children turn into little devils (normally the are pretty well behaved) all I want to do is go to the grocery store and have no fighting.

I'm still TTC, so I'm not a mom yet, but I think about this alot.
I really hope to have a close knit family - the type of family I didn't have. Sure my parents loved me, but it was more of a throw money at me to make me happy kind of parenting style they had. Even to this day, they just hand me money and think that makes it all okay. My hubby's family is way different, they aren't all about money, but all about getting together and having a good time. I came from a family who didn't hug - hubby's family, you hug every time you see each other. I hope to raise a family like my hubby's.

I want my kids to be happy, appreciative, and caring--which they are. I think the only thing that is necessary for a family is love, happiness, and support. That is what I truly want--a happy family with lots of love and I have that so how much more can I ask for?

I take it you didn't have those kinds of holidays growing up. You know what.......NONE OF US DID! Somebody won't like what they got for Christmas, or one of the kids will throw a tantrum or nobody will show up for the big dinner you cooked. That is the reality of life. But due to commercialism we are led to believe in order to have a perfect holiday filled with peace, love and joy we need to buy decorations and prepare elaborate meals. Don't buy into that, just focus on the love in your home, be it for God, the kids, hubby or someone else who needs to feel loved and all the rest will follow.
