My fridge/freezer broke down for about a day and inexplicably started working again. During this time, some frozen chicken may or may not have defrosted - it was certainly quite cold when the fridge was knackered. Should I leave it to defrost again and risk dying of food poisoning or stop being a wuss?

Have you got a cat? If not borrow one from a neighbour. Defrost the chicken and before you decide whether to throw it away or cook it, offer a bit to the cat. Siamese are the most picky, but if the cat turns it's nose up - bin the chicken.

just because it is cold it does not mean it is defrosted. Leave the chicken out for at least 12 hours before cooking it.

If your freezer broken down and started working again, play it safe; leave the chicken out for at least 12 hours efore cooking it. (It deserves to be repeated :))

If it replaced into in refrigerator (no longer in room temperature) for 3 days, it incredibly is okay, presented it incredibly is punctiliously cooked now so as that no area of it incredibly is uncooked. it incredibly is baked or fried or do 4 hours in sluggish cooker crock pot. If it replaced into OUT of the two freezer and refrigerator from Sunday to longer than Monday previously putting in freezer, then it incredibly is probable spoiled. Your info are no longer sparkling. If it replaced into OUT till Wednesday it incredibly is honestly NO sturdy. it may desire to have smelled undesirable by capacity of then, WHY did you placed it returned in freezer? interior the later case it could make you very ill, especially no remember if it incredibly is not any longer thoroughly cooked, and doubtless incredibly ill even no remember if it incredibly is punctiliously cooked. clarify what occurred to an person prepare dinner and enable them to be sure.

Having suffered from food poisoning from dodgy chicken. I wouldn't recommend eating it unless you like the thought of almost dying from spewing and shiiting out your insides for 3 days.

Well unless you want food posioning or something; cause once something starts to defrost then its exposed to all types of bacteria....which thrive in warmer conditions....so by refreezing something then basically your just kind of freezeing those bacteria........so if you defrost it and u dont cook it properly i think u might get something nasty; however im not an expert so i dunno.......i wouldnt anyway....although i listen to my mother whay to much x
