The comments above are all based on the negative press "Russian bride scams" generate. Yes, there are a lot of scams for money. However, it is not nearly as bad as the above posters make it out to be.

After WWII, Russia (and the other former Soviet states) had a disproportionate number of women to men. That unbalance still exists today.

Also, to generalize a bit, Russian men are prone to alcohol abuse, and a woman's rights are very limited there.

That said, there is a ratio of more like 95% real, vs. 5% fake/scam/get-me-out women.

My advice is use a reputable dating site. Learn the ins and outs of dating a Russian woman. Read the data at http://www.elenasmodels.com .

Or, travel there. You will meet real women, who want a real man. We (Americans/Western Europeans) often misread the woman's motives, because we are not used to their ways. Again, see the Elena's models website, and use the resources there... it is very reputable. And you will find Eastern women to be much much different than Western ones, if you take the time to learn about them.

They are looking for a ticket out. One girl told me that it can take up to 12 months to get a visa. Then they need money for a plane ticket. Of course they want a round trip ticket so they can cash in the other half when they get to the States.

More than likely not, they're probably just trying to get to the states.
