Its seemed like everyone was having girls when I was pregnant with my first daughter but when I went into hospital and was put on the ward there was 6 other new babies and they were all boys. This time i'm 6 months and all my friends are having or have had boys again i'm carrying a girl. You must be mad thinking about boyfriends for your daughter tho, that's the last thing on my mind, you have got at least 15 years til she starts dating.

Rwebgirl gave you some useful data. Here is some additional information:
This web site gives sex ratios at birth for many countries:
http://education.yahoo.com/reference/factbook/countrycompare/sr/1a.html;_ylt=ArrdNpEDSr.f9_plATluDyTGecYF
For the U.S., the ratio of male births to female births is 105%, so you have a slightly higher probability of giving birth to a boy than a girl (unless you've had tests and know that yours is a girl).
Almost all countries have ratios between 103% and 107%. A few countries are higher (as high as 117% in Armenia, 116% in (former Soviet republic) Georgia, and 112% in China). One would suspect that something artificial has affected the ratios in those countries.
At the other extreme, Grenada has a male/female ratio (at birth) of 100%, and a few other countries have ratios of 101% or 102%. One might wonder whether something is affecting those ratios as well.

My family has always been more prone to having girls for some reason. My sister has three daughters, I have 2, my mother had 4. There are a few boys thrown in the mix as well, but girls do seem to be more common for us. Funny how that works. On the same token, though, 2 of my friends seem to be more prone to boys.

My husband said this the other day. We have not had any kids yet, but he would like a boy when we do. He went all quite and then looked really shocked. He had just realised that everyone that we know that has had kids(in the last few years) has had girls.
My sister is due any day, so we will have to wait and see (she has a four year old girl already)!!!

NO. About 52% of the US population is female. This is NOT because we give birth to more females. In fact, we give birth to a slight majority of males. Males (especially as infants) have a slightly higher morality rate which results in the 52% female population. Nothing "in the water" can choose the sex of a baby! The father's sperm determines that with an X or Y chromosome.
If you're sooo worried about your daughter finding a man, send her to China. They kill many of their daughters (disgusting!) because they prefer sons and are punished by their obtrusive government for having more than one child. As a result they have about 7 males for every 1 female.

I am currently pregnant with a girl too, but relax, there will still be boys around when she is grown. In my circle, everyone has had boys this year, I was starting to worry if my daughter would have any girlfriends to play with :). When I went to my childbirth class, it was evenly split between boys and girls, so I think its just a coincidence..

Oh, i hope so!! Don't worry about a shortage!!!! I have two boys already, i am praying for a girl this time!!!!
I think all the stats still say you are more likely to have a boy. they still out number the girls!!!!! I saw that a lot on baby sites. So your daughter is in luck!!
