How do I clean paint brushes after using oil-based paints?

I am painting walls in my house with oil-based paints and I want to clean and reuse these paint brushes.

Paint thinner or turpentine.Do this in a well-ventilated area. Soak for 15 mins or less. You may need to use an old toothbrush to get out the stubborn paint.Then use a detergent like DAWN to get out the residue.Re-shape the bristles & you're all set. Good brushes, well kept, can last for years.

Pour approximately 1/2 qt. paint thinner into a clean bucket.

Dip the bristles into the paint thinner and swish around.

Comb paint from the bristles with a wire brush.

Dip the bristles into the paint thinner again and swish.

Throw out the used paint thinner and clean out the bucket.

Repeat this process two more times.

Place the handle of the paintbrush in the palms of your hands and rub hands back and forth to shake out residual moisture. Do this over a paper bag or bucket to keep the liquid from spraying on you.

Place the paintbrush back into its cover or wrap with plastic.

clean them well with turpentine(mineral spirits) air dry, store by hanging in a dry area, they should last years...i have one small(1") brush that i have been using since 1984, and it still works as well as when it was new.
