Nobody should be upset for you asking this question but I don't know that everything can be answered in this short space. A lot of people are fed up with this pointless and unprovoked war and even more are abroad.
I think the first thing is that we need to be brutally honest about it to our kids so maybe they can change things in the longer term. Tell them about the lies and deception, how 9-11 was used as an excuse. Let them know that it really goes back ...long... before 9-11, generations in fact.
Get involved, educate people because most are totally uninformed by the US media. Anyone who reads outside the domestic media has to see how bad it really is. get involved on a local level. Change is going to take a lon time but we have to start.

I dislike the fact that people were so gung ho about going in to save the Iraqi people from Saddam and to fight terrorism are now bored with hearing about it. It's a sad state of affairs when our country and it's citizens are just so used to instant everything that they can't stand something that takes a long time to do. I was like a lone rider when in 2002 we were talking of going into Iraq and everyone thought I was stupid or Unamerican for saying it was going to be years into Iraq to do the job we wanted to do which was to free a people and country from a long held Hitler like dictator and that we shouldn't go in there. The country had major corruption and internal problems and knew nothing of running a democracy. We have to teach them and stand by them just like you would a child growing up...they need guidance and spoon fed until they can make it out in the world on their own when the government gets older!

I don't think that it's appropriate to leave and/or stay because you're "tired of it". I think you can quite easily explain it to your kids. That Middle Eastern Nations are breeding terrorists that are religous extremists and the US had an idealistic belief that if they had a Democracy they'd build a better society for themselves. They chose Iraq, because Saddam Hussein was an evil dictator that starved and gassed his own people. Additionally, he failed to prove he no longer had WMD as ordered by the UN, so we had no choice but to believe he still had them.

Just like the days when this country was fighting for it's independence--this nation is so fortunate to have individuals who love this country to the point of taking up arms to defend it. Radical Islam has the belief that if you are a Christian or Jew it is their duty to convert you or kill you. Now here you have two choices----destroy them now or convert later to save your skin!!!

DO what you want. Letters to soldiers would be nice. Prayers always help. Why the war....... Its all about oil. Never was about WMD's. That was just a ploy to get our troops to get to the oil.
