my girlfriend recently told me she had been seeing another guy for the last several weeks and that we were finished. whats the best way to get over this without becoming an alcoholic?

first of all, realize that it wasn't ever your fault, and then know your self worth... remember that when two people seperate both of them lose something but the one who cheats and/or takes this decision conciously will suffer in the end.and then know that atleast u got a chance to know the person you liked... maybe for a little while, but hey, atleast u did! here's a li'l poem for u

Being cheated on and then dumped is one of the biggest hurt combos I think. You need to concentrate on the fact that u don't want her back, u are too good for her. Don't try to bury your feelings through fast escapes like alcohol. Truly only time heals pain, but u can speed up the process by occupying your time doing things that u enjoy. Hook up with friends alot........that always helps. Do things that make u happy, our brain is not capable of being sad and happy at the same time. The worst thing to do is sit around and think about her and what she did. She isn't sitting around sulking about u so don't give her the satisfaction of doing that..........go out have fun and eventually she will be just a faded, bad memory.

Take a trip. All the money and effort you would spend on alcohol could go to an awesome manly vacation. Go hunting, fishing, camping, call the boys and go have some fun. Time will heal. God Bless!

Get rid of all of her things that she left behind. Put away any photos. Get up and go hang with your friends. Go have some fun and that does not mean go get drunk. There are many other ways to have fun other than drinking. If she was cheating then she is not worth another thought. Cheating is soooooooooo wrong. But hey you are now single person so go have some fun.

Live your life and expect it to happen again. You don't own anyone, the best you can hope for is some honesty and to be so open that for her to lie to you would make no sense...after all, would she have lied to you if she thought you wouldn't have either left or flipped over the truth?

Work out. You'll feel better taking all your anger out on the punching bag. It will turn you into a hottie and you'd be able to get hotter chicks than her then she'd be really angry n regretful she let you go. It works!!
