I am one to always "cure" myself. Lots of rest, liquids. Make yourself eat something even it it's a bowl of broth or crackers. Sweat out the fever. Get into the shower. You won't feel like it but it will make you feel better. Get your vitamins like Zinc, Vitamin C. Ginger Ale is all I can take when I'm sick. It may take a good week to get over. I just went through this a couple weeks ago---it lasted a good 5 days.

I have the flu to so at least you get some sympathy here. All we can do is drink plenty of fluids, eat what we can and rest. You may want to try a hot Toddy if your throat is sore and you are congested. Take a cup of tea, put lemon and honey in it, Add a splash of whiskey. Also take some Ibuprofen. This helps me.
The Lemon makes the congestion break up and the honey sooths your throat and the whiskey helps too.
Also do not forget the old, old remedy of chicken soup. For some reason it helps though no one knows why exactly.

It seems to be that time of the year again. I'd recommend plenty of rest, drink lots of fluids. In any case any medication you take does not really get rid of the flu but merely alleviates the symptoms.

Hope you get better soon!

i had quite bad flu about 2 weeks ago and i am pregnant. usually when i get flu i take everything from beechams to cough lozenges to nasal spray, you name it i take it but while being pregnant all i was allowed to take was regular doses of paracetamol and the very basics like eating oranjes for vit c and drinking loads of water. what i found was that without taking all the usual crap it seemed to clear up a lot quicker my theory is that all the products just prolong the symptoms like making all the mucous you have worse ect. obviously see ypoure doctor if you think you have a chest or ear infection as you should take antibiotics for that.

Influenza is caused by a virus, so taking medicine can sometimes be ineffective. Rest, fluids, taking it easy is the best course of action, but do watch out for secondary bacterial infections like bronchitis, pneumonia and laryngitis.

Rest, liquid, food (soup's always good), keep warm. If you drink, a hot toddy of whiskey, lemon juice/honey and sugar with hot water will sweat the flu out of you, and also tastes nice and helps you sleep.

Stay indoors, stay warm head to toe, drink vitamin c drinks, eat wholesome foods, sleep a lot, get your friends/family to take care of any of your needs if you can, drink as much water as possible to flush out the nasties and you will be healthy again in a few days.
