Seems like you can't even go to topshop these days without some guy with a megafone telling us how were all sinners...I always thought religeon was a personal choice. So why do people feel the need to bombard us with how they think we should live?

Wow. To the guy who has to dodge the cross on his way home, I really feel for you! For the people who have the 'we need to save your soul' mentality. Who says? Surely religeon is in the mind and heart, it's about what you feel. And what right has anyone got to dictate how we should think and feel?

Why should we be so concerned about the after-life? If there is a god, don't you think he put us here and made us all individual for a reason. So we make mistakes, big deal! Surely it's better to live your life freely and not in fear of spending eternity in a ball of fire.

Some people do overdo it. God himself believes in free choice. So, I don't think he would want us hitting people over the head. I think that the "prechers" you speak of think that they are doing good. I am a Christian, but I think there are much better ways to tell people about Christ.

To all the people insisting that they are just informing us non-believers of The Truth, I would like to ask them how they know it is true. The dull, drawn-out monologue of a street preacher is far from THE truth, it is a truth as the person sees it i.e. a belief. Now would these same people agree with a paedophile standing on the street with a megaphone proclaiming that their beliefs and actions are valid? To them they are, and it is their belief in this that makes it a truth to them. Doesn't mean they should be able to say it and force others to hear it. We certainly do not share the thoughts that his/her paedophilia is The Truth. And neither do I believe that Christianity is The Truth. I choose not to go to Church because Christianity failed to give me valid answers to questions I had. I choose to ignore the bible as I have seen the inconsistencies in it from both a believer and non-believer's perspective. And I chose to follow Buddhism, which has much more answers to life's questions than Christianity can ever hope to have. I am all for freedom of speech, but when this means insulting people who walk past you by saying that because they do not believe in God or Jesus that you are intrisically evil and will go to hell, that isn't freedom of speech, that is inciting religious hatred.

Besides, if there is hell, I will be in very good company with Freddie Mercury, Elton John, and all those people who haven't got a belief in the Christian God. I will of course be rejoicing that I don't have to spend eternity with the Pope, George Bush and Cliff Richard. Of course, this could mean I will end up in heaven, as that would be my own personal hell.

Well I can't go anywhere without the world plying it's filth all the time! I can't walk past billboards without a half naked woman sprawled over a car looking down on me! I can't walk past some people without hearing their foul mouths of swearing and blasphemy! I can't turn on the radio lately without someone mentioning the high priest to atheism Dawkins spouting his 'faith'! The TV is full of people having affairs, murders etc - the media spouts and preaches far more garbage than any Christian has ever done!

HIV and STD rates have grown - why? Because the world preaches that sexual freedom is the norm! Secular Humanism preaches far more stuff through the media (TV, newspapers, Radio etc) than Christians preach to people!

Because it says in scripture Jesus told his disciples to spread the good news(Gospel) to all nations. And yes we are all sinners even church going Christians slip up but we have a another chance by repenting (admitting you were wrong , saying you are sorry and trying to change). But also its a free country so he is entitled to preach on the street. If your British you should be more concerned about Muslim clerics preaching pure hate against the west and the Jews only now is the government waking up to this.

A true christian is one who lets God govern their life, and they follow Jesus Christ example to the best of their ability. He is our Savior, and he preached when he was on earth, and he tells his followers to do the same.
People like your self may not want to change, or listen to the message of the good news. This may be your choice, but if you love God, maybe think about this? Why is he warning me about the times we are living in? Could it be that God loves me and wants me to be saved, and live. Could it be that this worlds system of things is really ending? Maybe if you had an open mind, you would see that their is a very important reason for the preaching work. Matthew 24:14, Daniel 2:44, Revelation 18:8

Hi:

Would it seem wrong if a person with a megafone warned people to stay from the side of a cliff, if it were known that a landslide was about to happen. Or should the person simply allow people to make a personal choice to walk into the area of danger and to lose their life as a result. Think about it, in this world people are warned of imminent danger and at times they ignore the warning and lose their lives. However, how wonderful for those who heed the warning and are saved.

Those who warn people of coming wrath on those who disobey the gospel of Christ, believe that such wrath is sure. If only one person is caused to stop and think about their eternal welfare, it is worth it. The choice to accept or reject Christ is a personal choice, however, their are so many who live without God in their lives. It is not religion that people preach about, but a person and that person is Jesus Christ who warned people publically and invited them to come to him and receive forgiveness of sins and life everlasting.

Most Bible preachers know Christ personally and only wish to warn people to flee from the wrath to come. However, like in the days of Noah, we carry on, ignoring God, sinning before him without regret, each person doing what they see as right in their own eyes...what a sad commentary on the human race. In his day Jesus wept over the city of Jerusalem, because of their rejection of him and the dire consequences which were about to happen to them.

I am trying to put into perspective the gospel preacher who simply wants to obey his Lord and spread the good news to others.

Nothing wrong with preaching work but those methods are ineffective as people are busy doing other things.
Religion though a personal choice is not like voting for a political party the preaching work is a life saving work.

Friend I am a Christian, You have many young Christians that is full of zeal & even Preachers that is full of zeal, That they don't understand the bible enough, like for instance if someone take a scripture literally Then where it says to go out in the Highways & byways & preach, then looking at that without knowing what it meant, then that person would have to go & stand in the middle of a 4 lanes interstate & preach, there is many young Christian that don't have the understanding but only a zeal. I was one like that myself at first, in 1970 after my salvation. then I begin to see myself as nothing, & that first I need to Learn what God wants me to do, & not what I think he wants.

I have heard it said that we teach best that which we need to Know.,If someone calls you a sinner ask "did God gossip about me"?. ask this type of a person "are you a christian" if they say yes, ask "are you a sinner"?if yes. tell them I don't need to be taught how to lie & sin. You think that is bad!? I'm going to New Orleans tommorrow for a wedding this weekend. In the past, and I'm sure it's still there now, people literally stand in the MIDDLE of Bourbon street, throwing pamphlets and fliers at people, carrying a HUGE cross, and using a megaphone to condemn everyone walking to hell.

It's kind of entertaining, but at the same time, they are blocking foot traffic. It's hard for a drunk person to navigate around a 7 foot crucifix!!!
