i'm shocked!
do u guys actually still beleive in spanking ur child???
if u want 2 b a parent to ur child, so b it!
tht is completely ur decision- bt don expect him/her to tell you what they're feeling! if they're in trouble untill its 2 late n asking advice coz they'll think its too embarassing or disrespectful 2 talk to your parents tht way- had u bn a friend they wouldn't have had such a problem- coz they'll know ur gonna be there n listen irrespective of nething!
n personally i beleive being a friend is a much better way to beinga parent- coz ur still an elder n hence they'll respect u!
if u treat a person with respect, they'll return it! y do u think ur kids r ne different, they're their own individual wether small or adults; so ride over thm n forget about any bonding!
in a way i think doing tht is not gonna help thm- n if u don want the best 4 ur child thn i guess u cn pretty much hv ur way!
n rem times r changing- in ur days mayb u walked 2 scool- today due to a million reasons u mite drive ur kid 2 scool (walkin 2 scool is gd- but nt always convenient- depending on the dist n lack of time- n age of kid!). people have to change acc. to the times- this doesn't necessarily mean tht u hv 2 forgo evrythin just whats not so good!
hope u choose the right decision as a parent!

Sad isn't it? I get angry when i see little kids running the streets, their parents are either drunk, high, or just too lazy to watch their kids. I'm an enforcer, i will listen to what my child has to say, but the bottom line is, when i say no, it's no. Many people have praised me for standing my ground with my kids, and not letting whiny behavior make me give in, and give my child something "just to shut them up." That shows weakness, and teaches a child they don't have to respect you, and they manipulate and become unproductive members of society.

All that changed when children reported spanking as abuse.... I know many children who have put their parents in jail because they were punished by spankings when they've needed it! A little humiliation never hurt anyone. If you ask me you learned the lesson a lot faster then time out. The parents from that point on had/have no rights and well you should see how the children grew up they don't have a bit of common sence, they are rude and very irrisponsible and now everyone of them are raising children of their own, guess what they spank their kids though and it's o.k. too late to fix things now.... But parents loss their ability by the court to handle corrective action with their children and are from that point lost as of how to raise their own children!

I was wondering the exact same thing after driving around with my children last night. Kids were everywhere and not listening to a word that their parents said! I used to get spanked for behavior like that and my children do too.

They are too busy. The percentage of both parents working nowadays to be able to afford to give the best of life to their children has taken away Mom being home to raise the children in the old fashioned way

Those things go on every day, but for some reason, the parents that mostly ignore their children get all of the attention.

Whats wrong with treating a child with respect? I'd be a friend to my child, not some daunting 'Father' figure

i think that bleeding heart liberals happened to that, plus the need to have two wage earners in the family, plus a general degradation of the american way of life.
