There is no root of all evil. It is people's judgements, not some kind of plant. That said, religion is right up there as the cause of much misery in the world.

Which Evil do you talk of? The western ideals of evil, the Eastern version? Modern evil, Ancient Evil, Religious evil?
Evil is a useless word. It can be so many different things to different people, it has no definition.

The idea of evil itself.
If evil wasn't thought of nor spoken about... no person nor action would "be evil"... obviously.
Its a superfluous term, effectively undefined since it means something different to each and every person... and all it ever does is spread strife because it is used to brand other things and other people as undesirable... thus spreading conflict.
Get rid of the idea of evil and you get rid of evil itself.
