And I cannot imagine that anyone outside true believers can imagine any of these answers help at all. Children die of horrible diseases in the first year of life, why bother if your answer is that they are going to heaven (of which you have no proof), why not just skip the bit on earth?
And the sickest thing is that Christians will say its because someone else has sinned, even the most blind human knows you do not punish someone, particularly the most helpless, because of someone elses transgression.

Woah, you sure picked a hard question...
First of all, God is a fair and just god. He is not willing that any should perish but that all may come to repentance.
Now, you're saying that they haven't committed any sins. The truth is we all have committed sins. Have you ever lied? That's sin. Have you ever lusted after anyone? That's sin. Ever cheated on your boyfirend or girlfriend? That's sin. Sin is the transgression of the law. And the Bible says that ALL have sinned and fall short of God's glory. We are all bad people and we deserve to die. Now, don't get me wrong. By human standards some people are better than others. But through God's eyes we as the human family are all sinners.
God sent his only Son, Jesus, to die for us. Why? Because we sin, we must die. Jesus took our place on the cross, meaning we don't have to die. You only have to accept his sacrifice and believe that you will go to heaven and you will.
The Bible says that God wishes that we may prosper and be in good health and that God heals us of our diseases.
So if you know someone who's ill, pray with them and for them.
Practice the 8 Laws of Natural Health, on this site: http://www.lostrock.net/websites/naturalremedies/
If you want to make a difference, pray.
Contrary to popular belief, there's no such thing as eternal hellfire. Example: If you went to heaven and your family was being tortured in hell, would that be heaven, knowing that your loved ones are suffering. The answer is no.
God will stop all the suffering, at the time of the end of earth's history. If you have a Bible, go to Ezekiel 28:16-19. If not, enter it into Google and try find an online bible and read it from there.
I hope I've been of some help. Post some more questions if you know someone personally who's ill, mention their illness and maybe I can help.

God has a check on all the good n bad deeds of the soul .the soul lives 4ever while the body in which it stays perishes.we call this as death but even after death a person is born again or the soul enters into the wob of a woman when a body begins to form in it.so if the soul that enters has committed serious sins while in another body it can suffer the consequences when it enters a new body. maybe thats the reason why children die with sickness as a mere reason.

I think what's wrong with this statement is that you believe death to be a punishment. It isn't. Death isn't something that happens to just bad people, and being nice doesn't make you immortal.
I believe life on earth to be a test - of our devotion to God, and of humanity. We should not look to God for blame, but at ourselves. 'We' should help the sick children, 'we' should stop the suffering.
Death is merely an extension of life, for lack of a better word. The final evaluation of our virtues during our mortal coil before we are put in our rightful places. Therefore these innocent children will have better lives in the afterlife, free of sickness and suffering, forever in peace.

When people ask me why good people die young, I
say it's because they were good, and our Creator let them
come back home.
Disease is just the natural order of things. Everything in our world is a system of checks and balances that keep any one life from dominating the others. I've learned there are even
elemental life forms that help this system by creating and destroying, (recyclcing) psychic energy.
There are no innocents. We have all lived before, and at least once as a soldier in war, who kept murdering after the battle was over, overcome with bloodlust. When we take the young life of one away from a mother and father. We will have to experience the same one day.
I hear we all work in groups of souls. And one who loves us
will volunteer to die young, to help us go through this karmic
balancing of things.
Myself though. I'm from the Jesus School. And I feel we can
overcome karmic retribution through FORGIVENESS.

We're all born sinful since Adam (which includes all of us) brought sin into the world. Had WE not brought sin into the Garden of Eden, there would be no sickness and dying. As it is, God is in the same place now, while the children (and adults) are dying, as he was when His own Son died for the sins of all people so that while we die an earthly death, we have the opportunity to live eternally with our loving Creator. We are able to go to heaven because of the sinless life of Christ. God bless you. ~Nise~

Death is not punishment for personal sin. It is simply a normal part of biological life. But for those who are in God's friendship it is much more. It is the gateway to eternal happiness. While we are all saddened by the loss of a child, it really doesn't matter in the long run whether a person dies today or a few years from now. What matters is where that person spends eternity.

why does god permit all of this suffering?
Well, we are living in a government in which saan is ruling. And there is all of these things happening, war, natural disasters, hunger etc. If god stepped in all the time, and made everything ok, then it would appear as if satan's system was working. and we definitely dont want to prove that. but god gives us strenth and encouragement to fight through it.
And he gives us something else special, the bible, which is our manual for life.
Read the bible daily an you will draw closer to Jehovah, our loving God.

Ex 34:5 Yahweh descended in the cloud, and stood with him there, and proclaimed the name of Yahweh.
6 Yahweh passed by before him, and proclaimed, "Yahweh! Yahweh, a merciful and righteour Father, slow to anger, and abundant in loving kindness and truth,
7 keeping loving kindness for thousands, forgiving iniquity and disobedience and sin; and that will by no means clear the guilty, VISITING THE INIQUITY OF THE FATHERS ON THE CHILDREN, ON THE THIRD AND FORTH GENERATION!

God also allowed His Son, Jesus, to suffer on the cross, one of the most terrible way to die. Nobody is promised life is a rose garden.
