I am currently working overseas and want to start my education with my down time. I was considering University of Phoenix. I've heard they are accredited but i've also heard that businesses look down on online degrees. Is that the case with law enforcement agencies? Would I get just as far with an online degree as an on campass degree?

Law enforcement agencies as well as all branches of the military do not differentiate between the two types of degrees. So long as the school is nationally accredited you will be fine. U of P is a very good school, in fact, it is one of the greatest choices for those in the military or are otherwise unable to attend an in-class university. My brother happens to be a cop, and although he received his BS in a regular university setting, he received his MBA from an online school...and it carries as much weight as the alternative. Good luck in your future endeavors!

The one from University of Phoenix would be fine,

The stigma of online degrees, ( as long as they are accedited with the Dept of Education)( you will find many that say they are accredited but they are not with any accepted accredication fim)

but you may actually want to look at a computer degree or mangement degree. Normally for police departments, it is just a degree, does not matter what it is in. And honestly a CJ degree does not teach you much that you need in real life police work, sorry guys my opinion.

For example in the FBI you would have to have a computer degree, or an accounting degree or a law degree.
And it is so in alot of the better police departments now adays.

A degree is a degree, to human resources. If you got it online, from an accredited institution, it is as good as having taken classes in person

In fact, most prominent universities and colleges offer online programs, so nobody has to feel it is an inferior degree in any way
