Matthew, Mark, Luke and John
Bless the bed that I lie on
Four corners to my bed
Four angels round my head
One to watch, one to pray
And two to bear my soul away

Matthew, Mark, Luke and John
Hold the horse till I get on
When I got on I could not ride
I fell off and broke my side

Your question reminded me of a slightly irreverent version of your childhood prayer/rhyme that the more naughty of us used to chant eons ago...

Matthew, Mark, Luke and John
Went to bed with their trousers on
Mark cried out in the middle of the night
'Oh, my trousers are too tight'!

And we'd all collapse with laughter at our boldness. Such innocence! : - )
