I have a few dogs- been here in my home for almost 20 years, a new neighbor moves in last week and is complaining about the 'dog smell'
I clean dog poo daily, but its not so much the poo as it is the urin smell, so I took clorox and sprayed and washed down the back yard area, any other ideas to clean or? he told me to spread lyme? any suggestions greatly appreciated! thank you

Find out how many dogs you can leagally have in your city before you stir up too much trouble. You might have to get rid of some.

If the neighbor's dog is not securely contained on their property and is OFF the property then the dog is considered "at large" and the neighbor is liable for any and all damages, whether it's a car accident, someone being bitten or a torn up flower garden. If your dogs were in your yard and the neighbor's at large dog came into your yard and your dogs injured or killed the at large dog you do not have any legal liability. If one of your dogs was hurt as a result of fighting with the neighbor's dog then the neighbor is responsible to pay the vet care for your dogs. LEGAL liability is different from CIVIL liability. Although the law may protect you from any fines or criminal charges your neighbor can still pursue a civil suit. Again, if your dogs were in your yard and the neighbor's dog was "tresspassing" you should be fine. When in doubt, call animal control. I hope animal control was called anyway to make sure there was an official record of the incident.

I put bleach in a sprayer attached to the hose. If you use lyme you will kill your grass for sure but I can't even kill the weeds with the bleach.
I have five dogs and several fosters going in my back yard and it doesn't smell a quarter of how bad the front yard smells from the stray cats using my bushes as a litter box. If you have cats outside he could be smelling it. Also Petsmart sells a stake you put in the ground for male dogs to hike on you could try putting it in a specific location away from the new neighbors.

How many is a few? I have four and their pee doesnt smell at all. Maybe you need a higher quality of food or even have problems with water (i have to put TUMS in mine)
If you ever get tired of picking up poo switch to raw food. A raw fed dog's poo will crumble after a day. As if it were ashes or something

What we try to do is to douse the pee spots with water, as with a strong smell comes the dead spots in the grass. Soaking a pee spot with water will dilute it and make it much less potent.
If you can train your dogs to "go" in a certain area, this would make dousing the spots much easier. Maybe even run a sprinkler regularly to combat the spots and dilute them a bit, without needing to find the specific location.

If it's outside, they can't really do anything about it. You've been there 20 years, if the smell really bothers them they wouldn't have moved in. If I were you I would just keep cleaning daily like you normally do and don't worry about what they say, it's outside what do they expect it smell like?

ground lime is often used as a lawn fertlizer - just don't put it on too thick & smaother the grass. It does help reduce urine smell. DON"T use "quicklime" unless you water the lawn afterwards it's very drying on a dogs feet.
Other than that lots &lots of water.

you should not have more than one dog that just causes smells i think you should go out and by a very strong(nice)smelling disinfectant so as your neighbours can stop complaining

Try designating one area for the dogs that they like to pee in -- maybe leave the grass higher, maybe even spread dog litter there.
