Most good autocad programs will save as a JPG. I don't know that Photoshop will ever open a CAD file.

The one way I really like to do this was to open the CAD file then print to PDF with high resolution. Then open and edit the PDF in photoshop.

If you don't have a CAD program, download a free viewer, then print to PDF.

Good Luck

Autocad is a vector based program, so you won't be able to edit the file just by converting it into a raster image. You can convert to a PDF file by printing from Autocad and selecting PDF format instead of a printer. From Adobe Acrobat, you may have the option of "save as" that includes jpeg format. Keep in mind that since Autocad is vector based, any accuracy in the graphics will be lost.

You could change the background to white and the lines to black.
Open the drawing such that all you want to have in jpeg is visible. Hit print screen.
Open paint, then paste.
You select the portion you want and paste it in another paint document.
Use this if there is no direct convert available...

not sure how to get acad to pdf with out using a screen capture, I use paintshop for that. but you might be able to use the export command and export the dwg as a wmf or something else that photoshop can use, can it use dxf? you could also try selecting the objects and copy/paste them into photoshop.
good luck
