About a year ago, my heels suddenly became very painful to walk on. I researched this and discovered that I probably had plantar fasciitis. It has come and gone since and now seems to be going away. I wonder how others have dealt with it and how they got past it.

I have it too and like the others here, mine seems to come and go. I know how painful it can be, but I just tend to "work through it". I'm on my feet all day. Losing weight can be of help if you are overweight. Also try wearing shoes with good support. You might also try insoles or prescription orthotics. There are also stretching exercises you can do as well as wearing a special boot at night that helps to stretch those ligaments. Another alternative is perhaps seeing a clinical massage therapist. Best wishes and happy feet!

I was diagnosed with Plantar fascitis 11 years ago and today there are times when it still hurts. Maybe not as much as it did 11 years ago. The doctor had custom made heel inserts made for me and prescribed pain relievers. This appears to be the standard course of treatment. I remember the doctor telling me it could take 9 months to a year to heal.

Apparantly, the only other treatment method is surgery, which according to my doctor is not really considered except as a last resort.

My pain went away, but it seems to come back sporadically, especially when the weather gets cold.

All I can say is you may have to wear those inserts for the rest of of your life.
