Will telling a 14-year-old girl 'I really like you' scares her, assuming that he is a boy of the same age?
Or will it impress her and make her day?
Why?

well i think it depends on your age. if your around the same age group as she is , then i don't see any problem if you tell her you like her. Infact i think she would be flattered. It depends the way and the place you want to tell her all this.
I strongly recommend to you to be as natural as you can ever be.
Yes, you mite impress her, by telling that you want to become friends but also, give her some space to actually respond you back what she really feels.
And also, please don't get me wrong, think that you two are to young for a "love story". It usually brings sorrows if it will come to early. Still- if you like to be friends go on, do it!
I have a question for you. For how long do you know each other?
The way you have express your self it seems that you actually want to make her a surprise and she don't know about how you feel about her.In this case,don't be so direct, she mite be to surprised and think that you are to impatient. Show her that you enjoy her company a lot. If she is ready for the friendship you have in mind, she will respond you in the same manner.
Whatever she will tell you, be ready to accept the reality, even it will so different by the one you imagine....

No it shouldn't scare her, if the boy is the same age as she. Now, if he where much older like maybe 30 or something then she should be scared.Girls like hearing that a guy may like then, especially a 14yr old. If someone her age likes her than it is never a bad thing to her, unless she doesn't like him back

Why should it scare her. If someone says I like you, its neutral and nice and if she likes the boy too, it will make her day. Saying I love you, now that could scare her.and would not be appropriate at her age.

It depends on the girl...not every chick is going to respond the same...it depends on how she feels about him, her personal self esteem, her security about dealing with boys, whether or not she even "likes" boys, etc...
If you like a girl, tell her...if it scares her then she's not ready to be your friend...if it doesn't then be happy and enjoy spending time with her...

If it is said at the bike racks I am sure it would scare her, also open him up to a possible major rejection. In the right environment, I think it would be sweet. It does not really allow for a response. What is she going to say to that "Gee thanks". Maybe "Hey, I think we could be really good friends, DOn't you?"

Depends how well she knows you. If she knows you pretty well and she feels the same for you, then she'll be flattered. However, if she barely knows you, it might scare her a little bit.

I think young love is special too ! I think if you really like a girl nothing is wrong with telling her. Just be yourself & all can & will fall into place if meant to be.
