As fas as I have seen, no religion offers scope for personal insight, development of new ideas and upgrades to the doctrines proposed by it. Considering all this, isn't it worthless to follow religious customs and impractical beliefs which were created thousands of years ago?

No. This is what is nice about Christianity. It doesn't change. We always know what to do and expect.

friend i dont know what relegion you belong to. i am muslim and i have never ever heard and read in my religion that a man avoid or stop developing new ideas. translation of a phrase from AL QURAN "He who has made the sun and moon for those who have sight" . so it clearly shows that Allah says come up with new ideas and continue your rearch for welfare.
